Hey guys, couple months ago I picked up a 98 GTX clone (n/a) with intentions of top swapping/ built heads/ cam all that. Then all of a sudden it dawned on me.... why not go turbo?

SO I went on a hunt trying to find someone to trade with and a few weeks later I did.

Here are a few pic of the car pre-op.

    (GTX hood is gone however)

And now just a few shots of engine cleared, ready for resurfacing/ cleaning and re installation!

At this point I am waiting on my rollermaster single to show up in the mail, I will then being the cam install!

    Incomplete parts list:
    Bottom end bored over 0.030
    St1 Turbocam
    Rollermaster Single timing kit
    LS7 lifters
L67 heads 105# springs, hardened retainers, Vitton valve seals, Si valves, Ported exhaust side, resurfaced and ready for install
    Stock roller rockers
    Stock rods
    L32 LIM and UIM
    ZZP oiling kit
    Turbonetics T62 turbo ( V band everything)
    Stattama crossover
Stock exhaust manifolds (rear blocked EGR)
    Stattama wrapped upper down pipe
    3" downpipe
    TiAL 38 MM wastegate
    Stock L67 maf
Ebay FMIC kit with greddy BOV
    Ebay Vacuum block
L67 blue powder coated fuel rails
    Custom painted Valve covers
    60# injectors
All brand new felpro gaskets (whole motor)
    ARP head bolt kit
    Monte carlo break booster
    Valve cover breather
    3 gauge pod
    AEM wideband with o2
    Boost gauge
    ETC!!!

Engine putback will begin this weekend, if anyone is willing to come help you are more than welcome to do so!!!

I WILL update this thread as I build, I will be taking lots of pictures!
Any questions, comments, remarks, ideas, adivce will be appreciated!

Looks like a stout setup. You should have fun with that!

Move your pistons to TDC, give then a couple shots of brake cleaner and scrub with plastic bristle brush. That #1 carbon looks a little goofy. Make sure it's not hiding a crack.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Very cool. Long list of parts there. If I could just make 2 suggestion for you to consider. Ditch the stock MAF and manifolds. You have this setup that's going to be killer, but will be limited due to those two items. Consider a modified MAF or LT1 as well as some plogs to complete that setup. What UIM are you going with?

I'm looking forward to watching this build come together. Congratulations and welcome to the turbo GP fam.

If youre tight on money manifolds can probably wait, I think Darkhorizon runs PEMs in his fiero. But yea youll probably max out the stock MAF.

    E85?

My pistons are stamped as follows
    L 3
    0.75
    P 3038
    3 8275

    Does that indicate the bore?

Also any way to test if piston rings are bad as the car sits now?

    Hot tank it.

If you don't have a giant parts cleaner, get some brake clean from the autoparts store.
