So I installed my Z7 kit on my car and swiftly killed my L36 engine that had over a 160k on it. Have to much invested in the vehicle to walk away, so going to rebuild the engine. Looking for suggestions on what type of engine internals I should go with (pistons, cam, valves, timing chain, etc...). The car will be my daily driver, want reasonable gas mileage, smooth running engine, needs to pass NYS smog emissions, and also be an engine that will run strong and dependable. A lot to ask but looking for direction on what to put in the engine. Going to keep the Z7 kit with Intercooler, so I will pretty much have gobs of power already. I know there are all types of options out there, just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Throw it away and get a stock block for cheap. Have someone that is awesome with this platform look the car over and tune it for you. Problem solved.

you're going to be wasting money using anything besides a stock block.
