So my brother is getting back from deployment next month and he wants to start in right away on his gtp. Right now he's got a set of headers (I think they're the Speed Daddy ones but I'm not sure), colder plugs and t stat and he had a buddy of his tune it up. He said he's interested in going turbo so I've been looking up some info for him.

It looks like right now the z3 kit is probably right for him. I have a couple concerns though. I know the tranny on these cars are weak and I assume we'll have to upgrade once the turbo kit is on, but is there any other mods that need to be done engine wise? Also the car is his daily driver, how are turbo on these cars (z3 setups specifically) as far as reliability goes? Sorry if these questions are rehashs.

apparently 15 PSI is a good DD level....

you're basically going to need the GM racing 1" chain for the tranny if you want it to last.

If you dont have that, look forward to replacing your tranny often.

I am happy with my Z3 kit. The turbos they use are the Bullseyes 2 series, i.e. S256 and you can upgrade further from there if needed. You can run a turbo kit on a stock motor and have good results up to the 350 hp mark without opening anything up. 400hp with the proper fueling and some modifications is not out of the ordinary. I do not drive mine everyday but I could without a problem.

Your gonna be looking at 12's on the slow side with most turbo setups. Mine is not balls to the wall or anything. Even a tame setup will be pretty quick.

They did...its called the T-Type and Grand National

It was a mistake not intercooling these cars from the factory like they originally had done...and they were running low 14's out of the box with them.

Ive been running a ct kit with a t66 for a year now without any promblems on a stock trans, car only runs 10 degrees of timing sometimes less but still made 250s whp. during the winter i was pushing 11psi with more timing, it was proly 260 270 whp then. trans has 133k on it 27k of that has been lots of abuse. turbo was put on around 125-127k mark. tranny does show signs of wear but still runs fine. (bangs into gear sometimes small stuff. shifts fine).

Nothing great Just a small T66 Turbo with a Hv3 On a stock tranny untill i finish the other one.

This post makes me a sad panda. So basically, your car is running like complete crap? 10 degrees of timing? Lawlz. Youve obviously got issues with your setup.
