I have a 2004 GTP Comp G with 56k miles on it. I'm looking to go turbo and I'm thinking about keeping the S/C as well. What do you guys recommend?

I know that the M90 is a fire breather from hell when it comes to throwing out heat. So if I was to keep the S/C maybe I should get an intercooler for that as well?

I'm looking to make this my spring/summer project. So it would be nice to get an idea as to what all I'll be needing and how much money I'll need.

I've heard mixed reviews as to the tuning of a turbo with a S/C. So if it's really that bad than I'll probably just go for the block off plate and such.

    All advice is appreciated.

it can be done, however it doesnt make much sense to do both since with a well setup turbo or m90 build would run pretty much as fast and wont be as much work to get running correctly.

If you twin-charge by keeping the supercharger, you must get an intercooler for under the supercharger (at least according to zzp). I don't know of any setups running twin-charge without the s/c intercooler. I have the zzp Stage 2 on my setup.

I don't think there is any reason to go twin-charged unless you plan on making huge power with a larger turbo. Our engines respond very well to just a small or medium sized turbo without getting the supercharger involved. When you start making huge power, you have to think about so many other things, like cam, heads, suspension, traction, and especially the transmission. Going with just a turbo will require a transmission upgrade. Most will say a 1" chain is a must, but since there are no more available, you will have to decide on whether to settle for the 7/8" chain, or look for a 1" on the used market. The input shaft must also be upgraded, and a billet flexplate and higher stall TC is recommended. Look to spend at least $3000 on just the transmission/flexplate/TC parts, unless you find a used one cheaper.

Twin-charge tuning is no different than tuning for turbo only. The only setting that you might have different is when to enter PE, as boost can start very early. On my setup I see boost as soon as 25% throttle. A lot of this will depend on the size of the turbo and the size of the supercharger pulley.

Alright so than just going turbo would be the way to go. So then I'll need to get a block off plate and I will have to gut the S/C case, correct?

There are a few different options for the upper intake. Taking the rotors out of the supercharger and installing the block-off plate is probably the easiest. There is also the option of a custom intake like this:

That intake looks awesome but it's something I think I could do without. If I gut the S/C can I later put the rotors back in if I end up selling it as stock later down the road? My other question is: I've heard that it would be cheaper to go turbo to make big power then if I was to just build my S/C. Is this true? I'm thinking it would cost me around $3000 for everything for the turbo minus the tranny work I'll have to do.
