Pulled the motor out last weekend to see exactly what needs to be done before summer; just thought I would share:

You can see the lumpy oil from the coolant leak:

So far it only looks like I spun a couple bearings. Now off to the machine shop in a month or two.

Hopefully that will be the extent of things for you. When did the damage happen?

I truly do not mean to hijack but I have a question thats not really related to the discussion but the pics made me think of it.

I think I see where they are, but can anyone point out to me where the lifter trays are and the bolts that hold them down in one of those pictures? Im trying to be prepared for when I do my valve train upgrades.

Okay, hijack off and forgive me of the intrusion.

Scotty- in the 8th pic down...you will see the pushrods coming down. when they dissappear...at the base...thoe are the lifter trays. if you see only 4 bolts hold them on....2 on either side.

Red- have you determined why you spun the bearings?

i was at his place yesterday.. it just sucks looking at everything apart. the coolant was getting into the engine cuz the MLS gaskets werent sealed properly with copper spray and locktite for the head studs... lets just say when the car goes back together it will be sweet! right now were trying to figure out if he should do a turbo cam now that everything will be apart. he has an "xp retard" cam and seemed to work well on the setup.. well theres my input!

I'm interested too. We could have finished but time was running out and we stopped there. We should hit again this Sunday, as long as it's not -20 degrees outside.
I'm gonna keep this thread updated throughout the progress of the build.
