I use the precision 66 with my stattama kit it has a fairly quick spool time (couple seconds) but I'm also using truboost controller as well which is supposed to help reduce spool times.

Ok, so now that things have slowed down a bit, I'm finally figuring out what turbo I plan to use. I am hoping to find a PT-61 or something very similiar. Now I found this thread:

    http://www.grandprixforums.net/threads/81182-turbo-help

which notes the Cartuning PT-61 specs were:

Precision PT61 that commonly came with the Cartuning Kit

    Turbo is a Precision PT61
    T4 .69 A/R On-Center Housing
    3" inlet / 2" outlet (E compressor cover)
    4-bolt On-Center exhaust flange
    Precision 6152E rated at 630hp
    61.8mm inducer compressor wheel
    62mm Stage 5 turbine wheel
    360 journal bearing

Of course it appears the 6152e has ALSO been discontinued, but this turbo appears, at least to me, to be a similiar replacement:

    http://www.precisionturbo.net/turboc...-6176E-MFS/497

If I got this turbo with the "E" Compressor Cover and the T4 On-Center .69 A/R would it work? Would it work well? Seems to be just slightly smaller than the 6262 that everyone loves.

    Thoughts?

It looks to me like that would work.

New to the site- so I'm not sure if this is jacking the thread or not. I'm trying to figure out the boost options- no one is discussing doing a twin turbo. Why not? Clearance issues or just really no need. I would think two smaller turbos would spool faster but create equal power. I know it's more expensive. Thoughts? Also, if this is jacking his thread (I thought it would be better than starting another thread for the same thing) let me know. Newbie here doesn't want to piss in anyone's Cheerios.

Twin turbos would be completely custom and imo unnecessary. We can accomplish quite a bit with just one.

It's been done on a couple cars that I know of. There isn't really any advantage though. It just costs more.

Son of a b*tch. So I finally ordered that 6176e with the T4 on-center housing only to receive an email a week later stating that precision no longer makes the T4 On center housing at all. Im in the process of confirming this as precision still lists it on their website, but if this is true what else are my options? I contacted cartuning twice to purchase one of their PT61 turbos but never got a response.

So if you have a m90 intercooled , stick with air to water or air to air ?

Reading the thread had me wondering if someone wanted to switch from a m90 build to turbo , has anyone kept the water to air set up and if it works out as well or better or worse then a air to air intercooler

I remember reading about someone that did a max blower build, had a 2.6 pulley on an a2w intercooler. he said it worked fine, but switched to an a2a intercooler for the turbo to keep it simple. if it works on a max blower build, why would it stop working with a turbo?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. If I can gut my blower case and keep the a2w fsic , avoid all the a2a plumbing , would it be as effective or better

Well I don't want to deal with that.
I am however thinking of picking up some new pipes for a turbo and well yea.. the rest I already mentioned. Thanks guys

I saw that too. And FWIW- I'm piggy backing on your thread. I'm going to be picking up a turbo here soon as well and your questions are similar to mine. Except I'm already on max'd sc l26 build.
So I can either dick around with intake and plumbing a a2a or just gut the m90 and keep the w2a

I think you should just keep the a2w, use the block off plate and send it. messing with the intake is a lot of work for another 10 hp.

The reason we run A2W on m90's is due to packaging and ease of install on them. The big drawback to them is the size of the core we can run and the efficiency of it. Your standard A2W core is still going to be significantlty less efficient than an ebay A2A front mount. You have to stick a ton of money into an A2W system to even remotely touch a cheap A2A.
