Strapped the car down on the dyno today for some tuning, had some issues making my normal 28lbs of boost but still very happy with the results. This was on 25lbs of boost, pump gas with NOS brand octane boost, and iced intercooler. Mustang dyno, so dyno jet would be approximately 12% higher hp.

Unfortunately tonight in trying to fix the boost issue, it over boosted, and blew the head gasket out.

I'm going to take the car apart and sell off the turbo setup, gm racing transmission parts and/or transmission. Time to move on.

Been running a few years, was going to part it out end of this summer anyway. Wanted one more kick at running a 9, but it's not to be.

Stock head gaskets, 87000miles, heads had never been off. Other than cam, springs, pushrods etc, it was a bone stock engine.

Yes standard ST1, .512 lift. Honestly was trying to break 600 on mustang dyno as goal, but it wouldn't make the last 3 lbs even with the solenoid at 100%, probably needed more waste gate spring. It picked up 100 hp from "street boost" of 15/16 lbs to the 25 on that run, would have been pretty close at 28lbs.

Great numbers... fix the head gasket!

With the 6262, might have been pushing the limits of the thing? Crank wise, you were probably closing in on 700...

Love to see ya fix head gaskets and slap a 6765 on that thing and rip some times well into the 9s...

It rattled pretty good before it popped. Didn't even have time to react. Guessing it was 35-40 psi, and lean since I didn't have fueling set for more than 28psi. Pretty sure rod bearings are probably hammered and ready to spin. The plan was to part out this fall anyway, so I'm just going to do it now. I've lost interest in the two seater over the last few years having wife and two kids, I'd like to move into a turbo Buick or grand national.

Well while going through the garage looking at parts to sell and keep, I realized I had a set of used MLS head gaskets and a set of ARP head studs sitting there. Pulled the heads off and realized both heads had been lifted, and the front head gasket was about ready to fail as well. They were pushing combustion gasses out both inside and outside the engine. However both the heads and block looked good, so I cleaned everything up, put a coat of copper coat on the head and block and two coats on the head gasket as I assembled each side. Fired it up on the 23rd and went to a no-prep arm drop race at the airport on the 25th. Started at 15lbs and turned up slowly until last two passes at 26psi, no issues. Entered a cash days style race there and ended up top 5 out of 38 cars. Screwed up the launch and spun on my last pass, or it would have been a hell of a race.

Here is video of first run a friend took, I didn't have the technique figured out to get the car to hook yet, and spun pretty bad.

Still a chance to get a 9 this year after all.
