So I'm pulling out of town earlier today and the last light here opens up into open desert and a 60 mph zone. I'm sitting in the GXP with the front windows and sunroof open getting lost in music when I hear the sound of a bov beside me. Being an import/turbo anything guy at heart, I crane neck to see a Mk6 GTI beside me and the owner mean mugging me lol.
Now a quick background for me lol. I used to street race a lot. And I mean the invite only, you see a CRX it's because he's gonna eat that GTO's lunch, you can't do 165 on a regular basis without breaking stuff then don't come, kinda stuff. I'm a liiil bit older and wiser and I got out of the hardcore stuff on a promise to my better half. So now that my Stang is gone and I sold my 3000gt I don't race much anymore (other than track and beating my own times on the touge). So a GTI at a light poking me in the face put a huge smile on my face.
The light turned and he gunned it while I eased into the throttle partially to save wheel spin and mostly because I like my front tires and transmission. Then as he pulled about a door in front of me my car hit 30mph and I figured it was finally time to see how this family sedan moved (I rarely push it). And it didn't let me down. The LS4 woke up and put me even again and the GTI hung there for about a second and then we hit about 50 and he shifted and I pulled away and kept going till I got to 70 and had about a car on him. Theeeen I let off and cruised back to just above 60 lol. He stayed behind me and had a very upset/hand got slapped face.
I was honestly surprised. I know the Mk6 times to 60 are roughly 6.6 sec but I figured from a roll he'd have me simply because of power to weight. But wow. This LS4 doesn't fail to impress. Anyways that was the first lil bit of fun I've had in a long time. I don't normally play stoplight wars. But once in a very blue moon it's fun lol.
