On the beltway cruising around 75 a silver Trans Am goin the same speed as me starts pacing me on the beltway. He gets closer and keeps looking in my car (wish I had tint ) oh and a pillar 3 gauges give racekar status too lol, then he signals me to want to race so I give him a nod i know ima get smoked but why not i'll see what i can do lol 3 honks and we go at it and at around 90 95 he starts pullin then puts bus lenths instantly on me lol no engine mods just a HAI but I'm very impressed how this 4 door fwd v6 responds!!! Car is goin under the knife for go fast parts routine maintenance is finished!! and before the end of the year the GP will be moving stay tuned

Sounds like he may be modded if he instantly put buses on you. Granted our cars have less hp and tq but from a roll it would be a walk scenario. I could be wrong but get some mods man, dosent take.much to run with a Trans am.

LS1 cars will run basement 13's stock.

    Especially if M6.

Faster with a sticky set of tires.

Stock ones have gone nearly mid 12's on slicks.

It took an XP/Headers/Pulley/tune and other small crap to pull on a full exhaust/lip/MAF/tune/M6 WS6. And the pull wasn't much either.

Lulz I imagined as such. Always wanted a trans but they are very rare in my area and if you find one it's pretty expensive. Good run though jayroc. Atleast you didn't chicken out lol

It wasn't a M6 I think it was a auto but still those Fbodies have more room to work with....hopefully with that setup and a little more you speak of can put down some good numbers for me

Anything could happen, ive seen a 3.4 pulley gtp run neck and neck with a trans am ls1 until about 90 then it walked away. So its definitely possible but most times i could see a Trans am winning against a gtp with a basic setup.

Good info I always thought they had 350whp for some reason :what:now I see how mild to lightly modded l67's can beat them and cost not as much neither

3.4 with supporting mods and of course a cam for top end power would surprise a lot of 98-02 v8 camaro trans am d**k riders lol

Stock L67's are pretty slow and weak at high speed pulls on the highway. GM badged all the w bodies with "supercharged" all over the place but the facts are its just a 240 hp motor stock. The Ls1 was 350 hp and the Ls2 400. I like the performance of my modded L67 but my son drives the car most of the time. He digs the supercharger whine but I prefer the rumble of a LS V8

It's not just absolute hp, but how the LS makes power and torque across the RPM range as well as gearing. I have been around a ton of W-bodies (supercharged, not, and now my GXP) My wife's DD is a 02 Z28 that is basically stock. An L67 wouldn't hang with it for the run described above. It pulls hard all through the RPM range and it keep pulling well past the 100 mph mark. Sure given the driver ability, condition of each, and what speed you race from...anyone can win. But assuming equivalent drivers, the LS will win everytime unless the L67 is heavily modded.

As for hp, it only really matters if both cars are strapped on the same dyno. Given that the 02 in my driveway was stock down to the air filter and wasn't running perfect when we strapped in on a Mustang dyno at car show / dyno day. It put 296 to the rear wheels even though it wasn't running right. It went in the shop (warranty) the next week and they replaced 2 coil packs. One was toast and they other they weren't sure about so they replaced it. The people out there saying these things dyno 240-260 to the wheels are on crack or something is wrong with those cars.

I love W-bodies, but F bodies are a whole different animal.
