with the money that would have cost, i would probably be able to do a LS-4 swap... and get F body brakes with coil overs and stiffer sway bars...

By blowing your trans? :v
Not really.
It's called taking care of them.
And not being a dummy.
I ran slicks on my bone stock transmission. With mods, never had an issue.
If a transmission can take double the HP it was intended for, even with a few mods, it's not a bad transmission. There are problems unrelated to the amount of power that go bad, which makes them a bit far from great. Just dumb things too. So they can't really be called glass, especially since many transmissions out there could never take double the HP, no matter how many mods.
Well If they blow the trans they either used a high mileage one, or have issues they didn't fix before, that caused the trans to go. Or didn't do the few, but necessary mods when increasing the HP on a large scale. It doesn't take that much to get a 4t65e to take double the rated horse power. That's what I meant, they're not bad transmissions when it comes to power abilities. Why do people use the term glass(describing breaking under force)? It doesn't make sense. This guy has a nearly stock trans and look what he's pushing through it, it takes it. I don't think glass is the right word.
He mentions "7/8 chain and input shaft. everything else was stock" (on the trans)

Usually the trans is fine under moderate mods. A tune for increased line pressure wouldn't hurt. Higher HP areas need a stronger input shaft, stronger chain, and a few others
