Well tuned meth and well tuned race gas.
The engine is VERY sensitive to knock. If I disable meth it knocks. If I run another lower octane than AV gas, it knocks.
Right now it is 100% knock free every run.

100s of runs so far so good.
The secret is not knocking. Most guys modding are not always paying attention.
Even when I know it won't knock I still look at my datalog going down the track.

I'm more worried about the axles at that point. But the way I launch it makes it easier on the trans.
I put just a tad bit of load on the converter to remove the hit. But yes, trans might die when I'll try slicks. Hopefully not.

Average of 2.0 60 foot, best two are 1.995 and 1.992 ! My best ever with regular tires.
I'm launching at maybe 1/6 throttle, barely putting my foot on the gas. Then when I feel the tires stop spinning, I slowly start laying on the throttle gradually until the shift to 2nd gear when I go Full throttle.
That means slicks will make a HUGE difference on this car. Lots of torque...

That GTP looks clean as hell for 1800... good find for sure. ever had it on a dyno? 2.6 pulley is insane with that setup..

Id be damn suprised if you grenade a cv shaft before the trans lol !!! stock cv shafts hold well over 350wimpy transmission umm not so much.

Either way I love seeing cheap mod cars haul ass.

I tried mixing E-85 (I think winter blend still is E70 which is lower octane).
I mixed the supposed E-85 with 91 octane fuel. I was suppose to have a 50% Ethanol 50% gas mix + my methanol injection which accounts for 25% of the total fuel.
So total I had 75% alcohol and I still had some knock every run. It just couldn't take it.

But If I go full E-85 (not winter blend) + methanol it might work but it will be limit. I think AV gas 100LL at 2.15$ a litre or 7$ a Gallon is the best bet.

No, all street tuned. We don't have a car Dyno only a track dyno for snowmobiles.

I see the problem being when it shifts into the next gear. A buddy of mine had a nic cam/2.8 etc etc setup on stock trans and the input shaft snapped in two on the 1-2 shift.

As most of us know and like you stated the motor is sensative to knock, I bet yours is way way more that way because you are only using the high octane fuel/meth combo to combat the KR. I know you are going at some point do this, but adding a little extra exhaust flow will help with how sensative it is.

I can get 110 out of the pump here by the dirt track but when regular is over 4 bucks E85 has to be a more economical which makes me wonder how much daily use does this get tuned back and pullied up???

Thanks ! Pretty happy with the car. It's my best FWD run on regular tires ever. I had 400HP turbo cars before FWD, could never get them hooked on a street tire. The GTP has incredible traction for a FWD.
It is almost equivalent to a RWD. None of the street tired RWD get me out of the hole. The traction was pretty bad today too, a 637WHP twin turbo G35 ran a best of 13.5 @ 115mph because it spun all the way in 4th.

If I can make a stock trans take that many runs every time, I'm ok with it blowing up soon.

Just buy a cheap set of used speed daddys and run them open.. I am sure that alone would work wonders.
I am going to take my Regal to the local track sometime soon to see what it runs, I am hoping for high 12's

I run on AV gas all the time. Here it's just a little more than 94 octane pump gas... no big deal.
The thing gets 35 MPG now...unbelievable...

Midwest/up north has cheap E85, unfortunately here in Georgia E85 costs about the same as 93.. so not very economical for daily driving That and the unavailability has kept me from converting.

    That's my next step.
Headers, slicks maybe nitrous...11s for sure. But trans worries me.

That is nuts. My regal only gets 18ish city, and 28 hwy current setup
