All the easy weight reduction is done. The hard stuff has a lot more to do.
I will remove A/C as I don't need it and a race seat. Stock seat is 56lbs...
But bang for the bucks, slicks, nitrous ... that will hit hard.
Now I have to decide is now the best time for the rear engine work.
I have a Duramax Diesel I want to start playing with too.
Anyone ever did a before and after Dyno with just headers ?
Or before and after Drag E.T. ?
I'm curious about the real world gains...
When I made my 3" cat less exhaust it made a huge difference. Night and day.
My logs showed a lot of power and was all stock pulley. How much more power would a header give me.
The way I see it, most people when installing headers also get a full exhaust so who knows which gives the most power.
Also same idea with a cam, I was hoping to stay stock idle, stock sound... but if I have to go in the cam, I will. I need more MPH 110-112 + with just one engine for my goals.
So before and after cam dyno or track E.T. etc...
In the meantime I'll see what I can find with a search.
Do you only do this on the track?
I don't have a before and after but after putting a set of p&p heads, s1x cam, and headers on my car it's a ton faster.
Do you run all the meth and e85 or whatever and all race gas on the street daily driving?
If you get slicks go for QTP's or something sticky. Ive got the 255 ET Street radials, their nothing special. Better than all seasons or nittos but still not a real slick. Best I got out of them was 1.88 60' even with the cables on. That was launching at about 1400 rpm and rolling into the throttle until 2nd. I do have 3.29 final drive too though.
I need them to be streetable. I think M&H are the best slicks out there, perhaps the best DOT radial as well.
I'm not yet sure what direction I'm going with the car. As it stands I want to be able to drive it to the track, and not have to bring my truck/trailer the whole deal.
So I'd like DOT tires but I know they will not give me the traction I want (full throttle right from the start)
M&H doesnt make a good size for our cars that I can find. Unless you can still fit 15" rims in the front. I cant with F-body brakes.
