So a guy that lives down the street from me has a 2010 Golf GTI he's always going on and on about and he's always hammering around town. So today I was out just driving around since it was about 60 degrees here and had my windows down and all and happened to see him on the highway on my way headed home. I decided to pull up beside him and see if he wanted to race his big bad GTI against my old farts car as he calls it which I don't get since its a 99 GTP. So we slow down to about 35-40 and we both stomp on it. He pulled maybe a hoods length ahead of me until we got up to about 70 then I started pulling on him. I let off at 110 when I was at least a car length ahead maybe two car lengths. I was pretty surprised it was even close. I figured i'd just steamroll him but at least I shut him up for the time being lol.

....stock for stock he should have had you...good drivers can easily get sub 6's from 0-60...a gtp's 0-60 is usually around 6.5.....now you got him from a roll, so maybe his shifting was off, either way good kill....

I know im late but whatever lol. GTIs can be surprising. My old roommate also had a 2010 GTi that was APR tuned and a few other basic mods as well as some suspension work for autocross. When i was at 70-75% throttle and he was at WOT he slowly pulled on me. (I couldnt go WOT because of tuning and KR issues.) But with lite mods and a tune they can run a high 13. Im guessing with adding an IC and downpipe could be a mid to low 13 sec car.

Close race. If the GTI had a CAI and maybe an aftermarket muffler it might be able to take em'.

I told him he needs to replace his downpipe with an O pipe then maybe he could have given us a better run.
