So you have an 05 with a 3.6, headers & canned tune? I can't seem to understand how you beat SRT4's, turbo jetta's & every mustang. I think your combo is pretty close to what ffdeathpunch said... again tho not sure how you beat those other cars unless they were not racing or you jumped em. Anyway, post up some times when you get back.

I thought you were the one who said to change my plugs? Also I'm going to run 110 octane... And thought about a shift but I'm going to get an aluminum tranny pan and a full flush at the same time

Not me - won't you need a 110 octane specific tune to take advantage of the octane?

You need to change your plugs to probably al605's but that isn't going to change your timing. 110 octane isn't going to do anything unless you're getting KR. On 110 octane you could drop pullies.

Not you elite, I meant ds, trying to reply to multiple posts in one post while on my iPhone at work, kinda confusing, but my timing does vary at WOT this morning when it was cool outside and I run WOT I do run at 20, but when it was hot yesterday I ran 15, and then when it wasnt 90 out... 84, I ran 16-17 and when it was around 70 outside I ran 18 degrees, hence why I think I might be getting a little KR, but I don't think any iPhone apps scan for KR that I'm aware of, I downloaded a couple for my laptop... Didn't get a chance to play with them yet, but maybe those will scan for KR...

Torque for android scans for torque but I'm not sure of any others. Sounds like you are getting some KR.

The 110 is a more stable fuel, even if your not tuned for race gas, it still helps fight KR because it resists pre ignition, so of nothing else I shouldn't have KR, plus I love the way it smells . I'll throw in some al605's and see what my timing runs, I just wish I could check KR!

    your gonna run a low-mid 15.

you really should run 605's especially since you only have a 3.6. .55 is fine for gapping

How many times does this have to be said.

SPARK PLUG HEAT RANGE DOES NOT DICTATE YOUR WOT TIMING #'s.

That is all in the tune, or based on how much KR you have.

Each degree of KR yanks timing.

Every degree of KR is on average a 5-7 WHP loss.

And every degree of timing less than the stock 15-16* is creating higher EGT's, which isn't good either.

Also, just running 110 to "think you have no KR" is a dumb/childish way to go about it. You need a "tune", and a way to "scan" for KR on the fly, not this...well I think I'm gonna run race gas and it'll be ok mentality.

If you want to do it that way, go get a 160* T-Stat, disable the knock sensors, run AL103's and open manifolds.

Pretty sure you'll be knock free on a 2.9" then, unless you want to mill the snout.

oh im not saying i will have no KR, but im saying 110 HELPS fight KR, if that were the case wouldnt everyone have a MPS and throw a 2.5 inch pulley and run race gas when they go to the track? im staying it SHOULD help with a degree or two of rase gas, and i will be running open manifolds, i have ZZP headers with a 3 inch catless DP, and an electric cutout.... i never said i wont have any KR, i said shouldnt... meaning if i have a couple of degrees of KR it should take care of the problem.... i was running al103's but i swapped them last night lol, at this point i cant really change anything about what im running, and its gonna be way warmer tonight than i thought, so im probably just gonna go suck it up at the track its ok cuz i just found a place locally that has a dyno, but they only have tuning software for diesels, i just need to find someone with hpt tuner and im good to go without going to grand rapids or indy.

What you're going to have to do is suck it up and either buy a tuner or drive.

200~ miles isn't that bad, people go father, hell I drove 800~ miles to Michigan and then did a blower swap while I was up there.

And just because it is 110, doesn't mean its the right thing to do either. Excessive amounts of octane will only make the car bog when it isn't needed. You might only NEED 96~ octane to kill the KR.

well i had about 2.5 gallons of 93 octane left when i put like 4 gallons of 110 in it... those are my only options around here, i know some places have 101 race gas, but the only race gas i can get around here is like 135 octane at like 12 bucks a gallon, thats all fancy any crazy, im thinking about buying a tuner trying to get my buddy to split one with me but he is semi retarded hes set on buying a bully dog for his truck with a 327 cuz all those diesel guys use them and he keeps thinking its better than a real tune, he also has been telling me to roast the **** outta my street tires at the strip too, and tried to tell me that colder air makes your motor run less power.... like the dude can turn a wrench, but when it comes to techinal stuff hes a dumbass, so im prob going to have to buy it myself. i know someone who knows HOW to tune, but no one with a tuner.... if anyone wants to come up and dyno my car with me and has a tuner... i will def buy you a case of beer or two....
