So I was out messing around tonight for a little while in the GTPizzle and I spot a clean looking black 98 Z28 with HID's. I'm coming up behind him in the left lane as he is taking off from a light that just turned green and I give him a little blower whine as I go by to get his attention. We go through a few more lights, going around traffic (not recklessly) until we got to the edge of town. He starts pacing me as we are cruising down the road at about 45mph. It was a 6 speed and I could tell that he was in a lower gear but it didn't sound like the right one (2nd). So I give i give it a little gas and slowly sink the pedal to the floor trying to get him to take off at the same time as me and he does. I pulled about 2 cars on him from 45ish to 100ish but it turns out he was in 3rd gear, but he still wasn't stopping my pull yet.

A few seconds later we get to the next stop light, one of the last ones out of town, and we are all alone. Light goes green and I easy into it because the streets were a little chilly and didn't want to spin too much. I had him by about a car and a half out of the hole until about 70mph when he started slowly but steadily pulling back. By about 105mph he had taken the lead and my front bumper was at about the middle of his car. We pulled over afterwards and he told me all his mods. Which were Torquer V2 cam, BBK LT's, LS6 intake, lid and cat-back. He also said he wasn't fully tuned yet. He could not believe that I kept up with him as well as I did. I think that's why he kept it in 3rd instead of 2nd on the roll, because he didn't think he would have to try very hard. That's what I gathered anyway. Anyway, he was a cool guy and complimented me on my car. Then we went our separate ways.

That LS1 must have been running like poop. If this is a true story then I'll bet that guy is working on his car right now or he put it on Craig's List.

It'll whine if you have a cheap cone filter stuck on the TB. HAHAHA

    I mean it's not loud...lol.

    3.4" doesn't make hardly any blower whine...compared to say...a 2.8" or a 3.0"?

But Verz's car is so fast anyways...it don't mattuh

Don't get discouraged from all this flack. We truly appreciate enthusiastic GP owners like yourself.

So, do you have cheap cone filter on your TB? If you do, you might consider putting a K&N OEM in the stock filter box. You're engine will love you.

Did I just open a can of worms? Let's here it!

The whole point of the open cone is more flow. If you put a k&n in the stock filter box your creating more resistance for the air. Open cone ftw.

Trust me, I don't get discouraged at all, lol. And thanks. I have a fender well intake right now, but I'm thinking about strapping the biggest filter I can find to my TB and seeing how much of a difference it makes.

You're a good sport. I'll chalk one up for ya...but don't mess with anymore LS anythings. If you do I would keep it under your hat. Claiming that our 6 bangers can keep up is just asking for trouble on this forum.

    Peace, and be safe.

i would have no problem believing a 6 banger with a S/C could keep up with a slightly modded ls1.

...if it werent in a FWD 3500 lb family car with an automatic transmission...

edit: forgot said ls1 had cam...

    Because they don't?

Verz's GTP makes between 250-290 WHP, a stock LS1 makes similar.

Add bolt ons and a cam, and it'll walk ya.

    Do not understand?

Yes even the verz loses races. It's 2012, the world is ending.
