Have you raced this mustang? If its an auto and you know how to launch you might be able to take him or make it close enough to get some girls to like you for your car.

I'll drive over there and show that stang what's what. lol
Nope, haven't raced him yet, mostly because I'd be upsetting the "parking lot chain of command" by even thinking of the "crazy idea" to ask Mustang boy to a race.
His is an auto though, and I'd just love to turn off trac control and beat on the GP for a while. I guess I wouldn't need to beat him (although that would be best ) all I'd need to do is really prove that the 3.8L could keep pace with his all-so-amazing 4.0L V6.
I've beat a lot of auto V6 stangs in GPGTs. Its definately doable.
Ok, so knowing that I stand a chance, what is good launching procedure while in a GT? I'm assuming trac control off (like I almost always have it lol) hit it, and make sure it goes in a straight line? I can't imagine having to worry about wheel spin too much in a GT, so is it best to just floor it off the line or not?
Do a few practice launches, but don't just mash the gas.
And it will be close because the rustang has about 4 more wheel horse, slightly shorter gears, and about 100 less pounds, so run the tank on low, hope he can't launch and that he is a fat ass. Learn from me and remove the spare (plus you have extra space to store things) haha
Practice launching a lot! You want to be on the verge of spinning the tires, without spinning the tires. Outlaunching him will be the best advantage you can get, because once you get ahead of him, you should be able to just gradually pull.
My GT spins the tires a little when I push it, it really depends on your tread, but get it moving a tiny bit then push it to the floor, like a boss.
So you're saying that I now have a semi-reasonable reason to abuse my car?
Hahaha!!
I'm guessing he doesn't know how to launch cause I've never seen or heard of him racing. He just relies on the "it's a Mustang so don't even try to challenge me" approach, which is why it'd be fun as h311 to actually beat him.
But spare out and learning to launch are things I can do. Also, do you think having a coupe would be any different in weight than a sedan or do the 2 super heavy doors make up for the 4 lighter ones?
20lb isn't enough to matter.
Haha my GTP kills my friends 2004 v6 stang... its not even close. the funny part is that the v6 musttang is not near one of the fastest cars at my high school. theres like 3 kids with gt mustangs, a 350z, and my friends g35 in the parking lot amoung alot of other decently fast cars.
i remember high school... oh the place where 17 second cars were considered fast...even if you beat this kid with the v6 rustang, hell make up some BS excuse why he lost. and if you lose, even by a little, then everyone will talk **** about your car. so my answer to that is...DONT LOSE
If you get a chick out of this, we better get pics!
and if you get a girl, make sure you take her to the backseat. you have to show her that just because you have a coupe, doesnt mean you dont have backseat room.
DO IT! Ask him to race! Mustangs are terribly overrated cars..the majority of the ones on the road aren't even the decent fast ones, just the blah base model ones. They are also ugly. As you can tell I am not a Mustang fan..lol..
Put this boy in his place! I was always willing to call out classmates on their BS about cars. I had a good time doing it too.
No pressure eh? Lol.
Well anyways, I think once I get good at the launching and maybe get my new tires I might ask him how he feels about lining them up. Will have to make sure and get the GP looking good though cause if I knock him off his high horse the GP will probably be instant spotlight material.
Interesting story though....
The other day he came and parked beside me so I had to casually get out of the car in time to make sure and run into him. He started asking a few questions about the car, what kind of mileage I get (which he says he gets 18-19 while I get 20-21), how it rides etc. Then I started going on about the HUD, sunroof, steering wheel controls, etc. and I think he was almost getting a bit jealous.
