at about 6:30-7 i was in downtown new haven CT sitting at a light, now theres 4 lanes at the light but ahead theres only 1 lane the merges from the 4. so as im sitting there enjoying my dunkin donuts a taxi rolls up next to me. being from the city i know how aggressive they are, so the taxi kept creeping forward just waiting for the light to turn green so he can fly off and be first to the merge... so in return. i pushed the brakes as hard as i could and reved up to almost 3k and held it there then... BAM!!! the light turns green and were off! i pulled ahead so easy!! and made it to the merge first. the downside of this now? i had a taxi riding my ass the enitreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee way thru the city.

I hate new haven, just trying to drive to the clubs is annoying. Now I have to get robbed on parking and deal with one lane roads? Fffuuuuuu

Wtf who was the genius that decided it would be smart to merge 4 lanes into 1?
And yeah those Crown Vics dont have that much power anywhere from 190 to 239 depending on the year.

Still funny regardless. I hate when people try to get the jump at the lights into merges. Pisses me off. I would have done the same thing.

kinda sounds like what happend in this thread, taxi wanted to be up front cause he knew after the lanes merged he would be driving faster. instead grand prix floors it then after the the lanes merged together grand prix went speed limit, meanwhile taxi guy...
taxis always drive faster then all other cars, they have a job to do, the quicker they do it the more $$ they get. they may drive like idiots but i try to remember they are just trying to make some coin like the rest of us. and if i get hit by one..well least i know the taxi is covered lols.

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner. Correct, All CV's 92+ came with the 2V 4.6L V8 which is a SOHC motor, and a mod motor at that. They have no torque down low so its no surprise you beat him off the line. Now, if you catch one at a roll then it may be different. Heck, my dads 5.0L Vic can get me off the line but I run him down as soon as I get around ~4K and shift into 2nd. Also, most CV's have a 3.08 open rear while some of the taxi's may have either the 3.27 or 3.55 depending on year which makes them even slower w/ the 3.08's. The 4R70W w/jmod in my 03 Sport will almost pull the tires loose on the shift w/ trac-control off, lol... But then again I have cop chip, cop tires, cop suspension, blah blah (j/k)
