Its a gorgeous day today, so I decided to get out to the country side, away from everybody, and just get lost. I just wanted to get out on the open road, maybe find a nice place for a photo shoot, find some cool winding roads. I'd been driving for about an hour and a half and maybe saw one or two cars on the road. I approached a stop light, which seemed out of place to have a stop light in the middle of BFE. While waiting for the light to turn, ( which was ridiculous because there was noone out there, or so I thought) a blacked out, kinda beat up grand national pulls next to me. These windows were so dark I swear they had to be painted. It sounded pretty good, but I figured if he took care of his motor like he did the body on that thing, it may be a good kill for me. I can tell he wanted to go because he kept creeping up, anticipating the green light. It turns and we're off. By 60mph I have him by about a car and a half. Then I hear an all too familiar, yet unexpected sound. "ssssSSSSSSSS PSSHHH SSSSssssss" and he was gonzo. I humbly let off the gas, realizing that I had just been sleepered by a beat up Grand National with a fuggin jet engine. I kept going on the same road hoping that he'd stop so I could check that thing out, but he vanished without a trace. Well played Mystery Man, well played.

Grand Nationals are no joke, even with alittle bit of driver mod, they will smoke our cars.

You do know they are the old syle 3.8 turbo, they're kind of like the cousin of are cars.

we have the new style 3800, a little more up to date.

Aren't all the gn turbo? The first year or two they weren't intercooled and were pretty slow but then they intercooled them and they were faster than the vettes of that year.

No, my buddies was a 4.1L N/A V6. I thought they all came that way. He said his car was rare, but I dont know if thats true. I know it was slow and trashed. But this dudes car had to have some major work done to shoot past me like he did.

I had a boss who had a GN and a GNX. He let me take the GNX down the track. First run high 13. Second run was 13.4. The last run was 12 something. I was just getting the hang of it. It just loved to spin and go sideways.

You've gotta respect and fear the car.

Only then will you be able trust it.

Which island are you on GP2002?
There is a kid with an 87 T-top in my town. He drives it around real slow, but he will race you he just hasn't figured out how to really make that thing go yet. He is 16, so it's fun to watch him learn with it.

I took him from the launch and he caught up to me at about 85, but at 120 I hit OD and walked away from him.

It has some exhaust and turbo work done to it, but he didn't have too many details and I don't know enough about it to ask a lot of questions.

However, it would have been far worse a loss for you if his combination was set-up properly.
Could have been a combination of not enough stall and a big effin turbo.

I had a friend that put a single turbo on a FWD 3000Gt that was known to make 1200 hp in some GN set ups.

That thing had such a lazy first 1/8th mile but the top end was ridiculous.

I have nothing to add, but since I first read this story all that comes to mind is that movie where the car is blacked out and kills people that race him.... anyone?
kinda older movie and little cheesy.....

Isn't there a guy around SW WI that has a super built GN that hasn't been washed in years and I mean 10+ years and I think it sits under a tree that drops sap all over it. But I think its under 11 in the 1/4.
Its just a car.......with rust and dreams for the future!!!!

The Wraith is the only thing that comes to mind.

When I started reading the OP's story it reminded me of quite a few years ago. I was in my Stealth which has 15% tint and I was actually on my way to the race track. It was a cool morning so the windows were up. I was siting at a stop light and I see this black Fox body with blacked out windows creeping up in the left lane.

Light turned green and he just paced me, kind of gassing and letting off, trying to get me to go. I wasn't about to get busted for street racing so I let him keep up the act. Besides he would have crushed me. We catch the next light and he sits on the trans brake and launches the f#ck out of it and is gone like a rocket.
