So id like to see everyones opinion on the best way to launch our GTP's. Of corse pre reving and then takin a full second untill wot is always talked about (aka power breaking) BUT what if u just punched it off the line with traction ON...it seems my 0-60 is better with Traction ON so why do so many people recomend having it off when drag racing??

the tq management settings in the pcm are set higher when the tcs is on vs when the tcs is off. so in other words the pcm is pulling timing or doing what ever it takes to not exceed that thresh hold. It may help you in the 60ft but in the long run it will hurt you.

Where is peach tree city ga at? im in warnerrobins. do you ever go to silver dollar race track?

It (the computer) controls the throttle/wheel spin, instead of YOU controlling it.
With the right touch you will by far out launch t/c every time.
When launching you want the tires to be just at the verge of slipping to achieve the most power to the ground and maximum acceleration without breaking loose.. T/c limits that possibility

but once ur movin and u cant break traction, wont the tc control no longer be in effect? or does it extend into the acceraleration? Peachtree city is about 25 min south of the atl airport, yea ive been there once but i was stock so i was pullen 15.3s haha lame i kno, but now i have about 20 someodd mods so ill prob go back and see what i can do!

The tcs table in the pcm still limits the amount of tq that the engine is allowed to make before some means of reducing that is put into affect...weather it be pulling timing, inj. cutoff ect (and this is for all rpm's and speed)

when you come to silver dollar let me know. ill be there

I dont have my tuner in front of me but i belive the max allowed tq with tcs engaged is around 325 and with it not engaged it varies from 375-500 depending on the rpm and current gear

even if you do get a little bit of wheel spin its better than it falling flat on its face when t/c kicks in. its not that hard to keep traction at the track with decent tires. roll into the throttle and you should be fine. the only hard part is getting it initally off the line. once i was about 5 feet out i would have it floored with no traction problems. im also stock tho so not quite the same. the main thing is once you take off the back end is gonna squat. during this time its easy to lose traction because of weight transfer. but once that weight is planted its a lot easier to keep traction. so i would say give it a little punch off the line then roll into it. practice makes perfect..

Whats the point in stalling it up if your just going to let off and ease into the throttle? That kinda defeats the whole purpose.

if u hold the rpms up until, u launch and then progress the throttle from where u were holdin it and take a full second to wot then when u go ur rpms are already up so u launch better with no spin...

quicker take off directly off the line. have the car already pulling forward. plus it helps with squat. then dont strait floor the car, roll into it. i would still roll into it if i just took of normally but now im stalled up and ready to take off faster...make sence

No one said to let off...
You keep it at that rpm for the start and ease in from there...
Not start from idle and bogg...

better reaction time for me. your foots gotta be on the brake any way to keep you from rolling through the lights when your at the staging lane. may as well get a quicker jump. thats how i think about it.

Hahaha launching is something i need to practice at, but i am not verry worried about that right now, about 98% of all my races are on the highway, i do mostly 50mph rolls, soo keeping the t/c off even on the highway will benefit me ?? I had a friend tell me one time to just keep it off all the time but i never paid much attention.

This is the way i would recommend.. just try and stall about 1800 to 2200 rpms (what works for me...) you'll still get good 60' times...Ask Blowfish...he's seen my slips with my 60' times, im running close to 2.0 60' s and i have very few mods, keep that TCS off
