so i went to the local track friday. i have an 05 gtp with k&n fipk intake, powerlog, ported rear manifold, 180* tstat, and 3" downpipe. i found there an 04 comp g with headers, a custom tune, intake, open pipe before mufflers, 1 range colder plugs, and colder thermostat. i figured it would be one hell of a race. So we line up our launch was really close and i just walked away from him. i held about a 2 car lead on him all the way down the track. He ran a 14.92 to my 14.70. so i kinda figured out that headers arent really that great.

Both are horrible times for having exhaust mods. Sounds like you both need a pulley drop and a driver mod. My GTP stock ran 14.7's
1999 GTPHP Tuned, Ported SC/TB, 42#'s, SSAC's, ZZP Modded 1.9's/LS6 Springs/Manley's, TransGo Shift Kit, Poly Uppers, KYB GR2's/Springtech's. - 231k and traded it in. - Gone
    2000 GTP: XP, P&P'd Heads, N*\Lq4 MAF, GenV, 42#'s, PRJ Rails\FPR, Racetronix, TEP w/ 3.29 Gears, 300m, 7/8" chain, SSAC's. - Collecting dust in my garage.

sounds like neither of you are good drivers. What were the 60 foot times and the Trap speeds?? that tells more what the car can run as apposed to what it did run

Pretty much...Dakota...ZR1Vette...ran a 14.9 BONE STOCK...in his '07 L32 car...and I showed him how to launch...its callde driver mod. Look into it. The guy with the headers probably had a smaller pulley too and was knocking.

Track prep, weather conditions and elevation can make a big difference in times.

If you don't know any of these factors, which unless I missed something, is the case here, calling someone a bad driver based only on times is just ignorant.

Driver mod may be needed in this case, but I just thought I'd point it out anyway since people seem to forget or don't know that these things make a difference.

94 is a decent trap if you live up in the MT's........

i only traped 96-97, some times 95, in a mid 90 degree day with a D/A in the 3500 range, with intake, headers, rockers. the track is only 700 feet above sea level but weather can effect things alot.

i went from intake to intake and headers and noticable a big difference. who knows.
