I've owned my '98 GTP for about 9 days now - it was bought as a replacement for my wifes aging daily driver. Car is all stock, 83k miles, runs great. Sunday morning I had a newer 'Stang, complete with red racing strips, pull up next to me at a stoplight on a divided highway. It was wet out, not raining, but wet pavement. He eyeballed me a little bit, on the green I started out, feeding the power in as quick as I dared on the wet pavement. Not my first powerful FWD car, but as you guys probably already are used to, its a fight with all the low end torque on tap - this thing has more wheels spin issues than my Z-28. I kept things mostly hooked up with a bit wheelspin through first and put about half a car on him by the time I hit second, and then I things settled in to me pulling just slightly, until at about 70mph he was clearly losing ground and now behind my rear bumper. He was most displeased! My wife, on the other hand, was ecstatic that her new baby took some Ford pride so early into its time with us! Just had to share!
