I know it ain't much but I just found the kill stories forum and had to post. I'm driving an 01 GTP 4 door with 3.4" pulley, Thrasher CAI, AL 104's unknown stat but it runs cold, about 170 in 40 degree temps. The car was modded when I bought it so it may have more mods that I don't know about. Anyway, I'm 38, active duty Air Force, and a college student. So I have been talking to the kids in my psych class that I have stuff in common with and find out that one of them, 18 or 19 years old, has a 96 Mustang convertible with an auto trans. On the way home tonight, I pull in next to him at 70mph and he looks over and smiles. When I see his car start to pull, I dump the throttle and walked away from him like a supermodel from a fat guy. It was sad. I slow back down and he pulls up to me and gives me the nod. I waited for him to get about a half a car length on me and I drop it and blow past him like he's standing still. I know he's driving a 16 second car but it felt good to know that when I was considering a mid 90's Mustang GT and my GTP, that I made the right choice.

Welcome! And you definitely made the right choice. With a 3.4 setup like you have you should be able to walk 98-04's. Good kill keepin the mustangs in check.

I agree, I need to bring it to a mod day at my local club so somebody that really knows these cars can go through it and tell me what I actually have and then I can decide what I NEED to help the reliability, longevity and performance. I know that it still has the stock cat and U-bend.

With a 3.4" on it? You best find a stock pulley. If not...you'll find something like this...

Well, I have been driving it like I stole it since I got it last year. I have put about 10,000 miles on it and it has never given me any issues except for the corroded coil terminals which in turn contributed to a clogged cat. I will take your advice though and will be ordering a set of the SSAC knock offs next week when my tax return gets here. Not sure when I'll get them installed though. I have a busy month this month and will be heading to Nashville on a business trip the last week of the month. Looks like this will be a March project.

when you say SSAC knock offs, do you mean the SSAC headers or the ebay headers that are identical to SSAC?

good choice man. if anything, if you had a scan gauge to read how much knock retard it was pulling then you could really tell how good it was running. if it knocks to much you might just find something like the picture above.

since these car did not come with intercoolers and the eaton is nick-named the heaton, alot of hot air gets forced into the cylenders. which can cause knock, which can cause boom. but yea.

    nice job murdering the stang!

Aeroforce's are way nice! AeroForce Tech Interceptor OBDC2 Scan Gauges: 3800 Performance

They are a lil pricey but worth their weight in gold! Get a good tune too and you'll really like how your car performs.

Holy crap! For that price, isn't there something available that would allow me to download an entire log to a laptop and maybe even tune as well? $230 seems a little pricey to just know what the car is doing without being able to do anything about it.

you are going to be looking at more than 230$ for a tuning package.

hptuners is 500$ for there tuning package. HPTuners.com >> Performance At Your Fingertips

there is cheaper scan tools, i dont know which ones will work and what not but i know there is some.

Take it very easy on the car (don't boost it)and run only premium grade fuel until you get the headers and a tune on the car as these guys are saying. Always run premium fuel from here on out even though its more expensive.

headers are $200 so just get that and get a good tune.

If that blows up... then you should have had a scan guage.

They're also useful when you get bad gas. You'll know right away when all of sudden you start knocking at WOT when you were previously KR free.
