The 3800 isn't a slow 6. There are a lot of 6 cylinder motors much slower. I've owned a GT Sedan and raced my share of rice and it proved to be the winner time and time again. However, the GTP is much faster. A 40 hp difference is HUGE for those of you saying it's not. Hell, if you gain a true 10hp you can feel the difference instantly. You also can't just say,"Take the charger belt off and you have a GT." The gear ratio is taller on the GTP so you wouldn't have as strong of a launch, the supercharger is heavier so you would have a heavier car and the compression rating is different.

I can agree the GT is fast but the GTP is much faster.

Seriously? The 3800 that has been put in the GT is a slow 6 cylinder engine if you compare it to everything available currently.

hahahaha your really retarded arent you? It could be the fact that the Grand Prix is a large heavy car. Mabye thats why they are slow compared to CURRENT cars. hmm lets compare a huge car from 99 to a small v6 sports car from '10? Rele??
And im pretty sure the 3800 GT block is a better engine than the 3800 GTP block due to higher compresion.
    You dont know shlt
    GTFO faggot

I'm the retarded one? Learn how to read you little pissant.

So you're making excuses now? The original post about the 3800 in the GT not being slow did not limit the comment to cars of the same year. Even if that were to be the standard it's still SLOW compared to other 6 cylinders from that time.

The fact are clear, the GT is a SLOW ****ING CAR.

I am sorry that you're ***** hurt over this fact. Talking **** on the internet isn't going to make you feel better, fat ass.

You can't really compare a brand new design to one that is nearly 20 years old. Of course it's going to be slower than the current applications out there. Still, the 3800 in 1991 was rated at 170 hp which was very impressive back then. Now they are rated over 200 hp without the Eaton.

Yea the new Hyundai Genesis looks good on paper but it's still a dog. The new Camaros with the V6 application are pretty impressive running at 304 hp but they are still pretty slow due to the weight. Cars are getting heavier and heavier due to greater safety technology and emission laws. So what looks good on paper doesn't really look that great in reality.

I'm sorry but for the stock 3800 car I don't consider them slow. For what they are the cars are fairly quick. They are a family type sedan or coupe and can still beat ricers which the OP has posted. All in all that's all that matters to me.

A high 15 second car is not fairly quick. I'm sorry that you disagree.

The sad truth is most of what you would call today's 'ricers' would destroy the GT.

The only ricers that are fast are the old school ones because they're light.

The new ones are too ****ing heavy to have a decent power/weight ratio.

I'm bashing those of you calling the GT a fast car. I am not bashing the damn GT.

Technically you can even make a GT fast; 130-140ph is considered fast. Now if you are saying the Gt's aren't quick? They are decent for a family car but not drag cars by any means.

well i, nor did anyone else say it was a drag car or would i try to make it into one and i do agree with you Pontiac designed and built it to be a sporty looking family car and they did and they did a hell of a job with it. If i were to make something into a drag car its gonna be a trans am or something like that. Also, seeing on how im typing away here again, let me re-phrase what i said earlier. The GT is fast when comparing it to other cars in its class. If everybody argues with me on that then whatever idc im not gonna get into it with somebody over the internet but yea thats my opinion anyway.

200 hp N/A isn't anything to even begin to brag about MAN.

The new Civic Si with nearly 2 liters less displacement and 2 less cylinders makes just 3 horsepower less than your car. SO GET REAL DUDE and open your eyes...a stock GT...or a bolt ons GT for that matter isn't fast...or fairly quick for that matter.
