I was driving home from playing paintball today and it is almost all interstate driving for 30 minutes. Anyway, being a Saturday, there was a home football game for the Iowa Hawkeyes, and I was getting stuck in the traffic heading towards Des Moines, Iowa. Anyway, it seemed like every stupid person that was driving from the game was sitting in the left lane going about 65 in a 70 MPH zone. How annoying. I was plugging away passing people via the right lane at a couple cars at a time. Then, I get a break and keep passing people while I am in the left lane. I was going XXMPH, not very fast, but about as fast as I can go without running the risk of getting pegged by a cop with nothing better to do.

Anyway, I start catching up to a semi that is in the right lane (I am still in the left) and there is a new(er) Mustang GT in the right lane that decides that he is going to pull right in front of me and go 10MPH slower than me, well under the speed limit, and a lot slower than most traffic goes on this road. Anyway, we get past the semi, and does the guy get back into the right lane??? Of course not. He stays in the left lane. So I start to accelerate and go to pass in the right hand lane when he stomps on the gas. I start pulling away (I had a little jump on speeding up) and then caught up to a car in the right lane preventing me from getting around him. I am going "pretty fast" at this point. I hit the breaks and am forced to drop back behind him. As soon as I do, the guy drops down to his "under the speed limit, driving like grandma speed" again.

The next break comes in the traffic and he starts to speed up. I step on it and jump into the right lane again. We are both going pretty fast but I am pulling away from him. Not real fast, but still spreading the distance, and I am forced back into the left lane in front of him due to traffic in the right lane. So then the guy is ticked off. I guess he was mad that his new Mustang GT got beat by a 2000 GTP with just a FWI, PLOG, and downpipe for the most part. Oh, and he must have been mad because his stupid jerk-like driving didn't impress his wife/girlfriend in the passenger seat.

I didn't know that I would be able to beat a Mustang GT rolling down the interstate.

Seems odd for sure. Do you know if he was auto or not? Not too familiar on if the GT's came with anything other than that 5-speed. All in all, good kill. Guess it just wasn't his day haha

Anything can happen in street races, so its stupid to argue over the internet if he beat them or not. I said before i have no respect for mustangs unless their blown.

Heres a vid of me racing a mustang gt in a friends regal I tuned, dude ran a 14.9 or something at the track:

I just killed a Mustang GT today as well. I ripped passed him and then started to slow down. Then I saw him come ripping up beside me. I was at about 45mph or so. I dropped it down and he kept creeping up. By the time I hit 65mph I was pulling away from him. We ended up getting a red light and he wouldnt race me from a dig.

My mods are: FWI, tuned pcm, ZZP catless DP, MSD wires and a stage colder plugs.

Its pretty easy to tell if its a GT. All the v6 mustangs have single exhaust unless they do a GT rear bumper conversion and put on dual exhaust which is a waste of money for a v6 mustang to begin with.

I was pretty suprised also. They are supposed to be around 300hp and 320lbft torque. Regardless if its an auto or not its pretty sad for the mustang.

I did some looking online last night to try to see if I could figure anything else out about the Mustang, and it was nice and shiny black, so newer, but based off of the front grill look with the 4 headlight layout, it was most likely not the latest GT so that puts it at 300 HP. Probably auto, but so am I with my 2000 GTP.

JMJ4492, yeah, I've been waiting on a pulley drop to a 3.5 before I get the tune. I loved my GTP stock, and I love the added performance with my "simple" mods, I can't wait to find out what a pulley drop and a tune will be like.

it's official, it's on youtube haha. sorry, that cracked me up. if you go by the ratings at the crank, it's 300 vs 240, with mods you could get the gtp closer to 300. i hate to say "only 300hp" but it shouldn't be terrifying. plus they're driving a ford. automatic fail.
