Just like all 1.8t, they can be built to be a force. But stock he's packin a lot of weight, but then again so are you. Just go find out. (and p.s. that synthetic doesn't make you any faster, I don't think you need to list it with your other "mods")
I had a 1980 VW Scirroco with an 84 GTI engine (1.8) It has a header on it when I bought it and after a year of torture I decided to take it to the track...
15.1 1/4 mile time
83 mph
not too bad for a 1.8... watch your back
the Passat is probably twice the weight of the Scirroco and my motor was a little different but have fun
he has the VR6 automatic, no turbo
Isn't the VR6 the 2.8 DOHC? They aren't total slouches but I think you'll be able to beat it...I hung with one with the Cavalier LOL
Correct, but there are multiple variations of it. A 12 valve that has a different intake manifold and lower compression I think which was in the MKIII GTI's and Corrado's and B4 and B3 Passats (88-97), then there's the 12 valve with new intake mani and 10.5:1 compression like in mine (MKIV Golf GTI and Jetta's) , then there was the 24 valve that was introduced in 2002 which got 200 hp and 210 lb/ft stock in the Jetta and GTI's. But the B5 Passat got a 30 valve 2.8 VR with 190 hp and 210 lb/ft. And technically it's not a DOHC. Since it's a 15 degrees V6, both cylinder banks share the same head, so it techinally does have 2 cams, but it's still only one cam per cylinder bank. I like to call it a 1.5OHC. The VR can be very slow though becuase of heatsoak since a V6 is packed into a space of a 4 cylinder so they can put down some impressive numbers, but not for long. But VR's tranny in auto's is geared really poorly for racing though as opposed to the gearing in the manuals which is designed to be very quick. Sorry for the lengthy detail but maybe someone would be interested in reading it.
And another one bites the dust . . . wasted him off the starting line, from 40-60 he was starting to catch up but once I hit 70 and up I stayed well ahead to the finish line.
