Yeah...I've ran them too...most of them can't touch 13's but wth, race him.
if your stock he should win. I have a GXP a well modded GTP beat me. I got him off the like and through most of first but after that he was gone. I think one of my friend GTP(97-03) is stock save for maybe a CAI and ran a best of 15.8. I have ran a best of 15.2 and worst of 15.8 with my car so anything can happen. You wont know till you race ( that is at a mile high elevation)btw
Elevation plays a HUGE role in how fast a car will run. This is the reason why I put the DA levels under my times in my signature. Some tracks back east will have negative DA numbers and hence why you see some fast times from those tracks. Corrected for Sea Level my times should yeld a result somewhere between 11.2 and 11.7...depending on what calculator you use. I've personally have seen my car gain .25 seconds just from going to a track at 2700' in elevation to a track at 1500' in elevation...which was still a DA of 3700'.Originally Posted by Panther427
Ever notice how your car seems to be faster when it is cold outside? That's because denser air = more power and colder air is denser air. Well, lower elevation air is denser air too.
A full second though? Must suck to live at higher elevations and not get to see your car at its full potential.![]()
Yes, it does suck. People look at my times all the time and ask what's wrong with the car. If I'm picking up a .25 second going from 2700' to 1500' imagine how much you would pick up going from 5,280 to Sea Level. Yea, picking up a whole second would not surprise me.
Now, keep in mind that weather plays a factor too and if he's in Denver the weather is COLD which will help offset the elevation. That's why you should calculate your DA since that takes into account weather and elevation factors to allow you to compare a run at one location on a certain day to a run in a different location on a different day.
Example, I ran a 13.1 at my 2700' track on a day that was 80 degrees out. I calculated that if I could get a 70' day at a track at 1500' that I would expect a 12.5 time in street trim with a 2.0 60'. I went to that track and ran the 12.49 in my signature with a 1.994 60'.
Not trying to go too far off topic but whenever someone asks "can I beat car X?" invariably people start telling the poster what times they have seen car X run. Without knowing the DA for the runs that Car X did the times are meaningless. Most magazine stories compensate for DA when they print their times so if you know what your car runs and what the DA is you can solve for sea level and get an idea of what chance you have. Again, not perfect, but then again neither is bench racing. LOL

Damn good post...exactly though...I've seen cars with half my mods have FASTER times due to the placement of their runs...I know for sure i would have 12's if I was on the East Coast...I'm half tempted to drive out there sometime just for ****s and grins if I ever have money to waste, just to see what my car could really do.
I say run him...then tell us how it goes. Simple as that. And video it too.
I was about to say I think Chody was running low 14's high 13's in his STOCK SS down in Branson...
i witnessed the laws of DA this weekend.
last time to the track with intake and headers, with NEGATIVE DA and about 45* out on crappy street tires, i ran 14.1 at 98 with a 2.17 60"
this past weekend with intake, headers, roller rockers and drag radials, DA was 2500 and 90* i was cutting 2.02 60" and the best i could do was 14.2 at 96. and that was even icing the blower down.
even the N/A cars were 4-5 tenths off there time from last track day.
air plays a big part in it.
Somewhere I red that it was bad to ice down the blower...can't remember where it was at though...
