    I have a 2003 silvermist GTP. It has a 4" FWI (used stock intake pipe) with a 7" K&N powerstack & a u-bend/ resonator delete.

My buddy has 1997 Regal GS. I has a 3" PVC FWI with a ractive cone air filter and a hogan performance cat-back. (He still has u-bend & resonator).

Anyways, we are hanging out at tim hortons and there a couple other regal gs's sitting around with us in the same parking lot (we dont really know them, only seen them around), one of which is a burgundy on grey GS. We start talking to the guy and hes going on about how he "built this car" and telling us about how he smokes all the w-bodies around. He says he has a pulley (he didnt know what size it was ). He had a 4" FWI and a 3" exhaust (even though he had a stock muffler---something seemed fishy). We started telling him that he shouldnt be running that pulley without any exhaust mods. He had STOCK manifolds and STOCK downpipe with a u-bend/ res delete. He said that he never has any problems with knock and that exhaust mods are NOT needed for that pulley (meanwhile he doesnt even know what size pulley he has on HIS OWN CAR). So, we all agree it MUST be settled with a race. My GTP and my buddies GS (mods listed above) against this pullied GS. So, we hit the back streets. Me and my buddy are both w-body freaks and know damn well that he shouldnt have a pulley on there with the mods that he has, so we know hes gonna be knockin like crazy. From a dig i smoke them both cuz i have winter tires . My buddy is the first one to race him. First gear they're side by side, cars shift second gear STILL side by side, middle of second gear the pullied GS pulls a nose. 4,500 rpms comes around and the pullied GS starts knockin and my buddy pulls away from him top end. We did this race numerous times and the same outcome. So, now it was my turn. My buddy's GS and my car are identical as far as racing goes. I mean identical...like we are side by side no matter what. So I raced the guy with the pullied GS and it was the same thing...as soon as we got into the high rpms, i would pull away and his car would start knocking.

After we were done racing, we went back to the parking lot to hang out and the guy wouldnt even get out of his car and talk to us...EMBARASSED

a guy running a 2.8 pulley and a tune?...ya he must not beat on it much or it wouldnt be around anymore

mwalk00gtp, im not sure how someone doesnt know what size pulley they have on their own car...it doesnt make sense to me. It was all that small, but from my "good w-body judgement" it looked like a 3.4 or 3.5...which still way too much for stock manifolds and downpipe. The regal driver was definitely a noob considering he didnt even know what knock was lol...and then when we told him his car would be knocking with that pulley and stock exhaust his answer was "i never have any exhaust problems"
