Thread: Nitto NT555r Review

If you are looking to get better traction out of your car, I highly recommend these tires. However, they only lasted me about 7 months. I will admit, I did race the car at the drag strip ALOT throughout those 7 months. They hook well on the street and so-so on the track. You still have to roll into your launch at the track but you can get on the throttle much quicker than you would be able to with regular street tires. As long as you do the speed limit, they are just fine in the rain.






Although the factory calls for a 225/55r17 tire, you can easily fit a 245/45r17 Nitto NT55r on the stock wheels.

Overall, I like these tires and just put a new pair on. If you like tires that will last a long time and are good in the rain, these aren't for you. However, if you are looking to get good traction at the track or on the street, these tires do pretty well.

With these being a shorter tire, the cruise control tends to go out while driving at times. Also your speedo will read 2 mph under. Not a big deal because you can always just turn the cruise back on and i've gotten used to the car reading 2 mph under.

I like these tires too. I havent tried them at a track but they are great on the street. Only sad thing is i cant blow the tires off at 30mph anymore. One thing i noticed is they roll a bit more in the turns, but that probably has more to do with me putting them on the stock 16s.

The 555Rs are good tires for a lightly moded car. I've used them before.The NT05's would be better.

I've ran the 555s on my 18s for years and they have been great. Traction is ok, but I don't expect much traction with a 245/40/18..

I want to try the Toyo TQ or Hoosier QTP's

Did you run 4 on your car or just two up front?? I'm trying to decide between a set of these or possibly some mt street et ss. Wondering if you ran just a set on the front or all around.

There's no point of running them on rear. It's a waste of money. Just by some all season tires.

Cool thanks for advice. I've ordered two nt555rs for the front. I'm debating between just nt555 for the rear or just some cheap ass $70 a/ts of the same size. Probably just go with some cheapos and not worry about the tread matching too much.

When I get em I plan on going to the track and seeing how they hook firsthand. I'll post some slips so others can get a good idea about how they do with a decent power level. Thanks again!

Yeah I went with cheap tires on the back. The Nitto's are much better than regular street tires but it's still hard to get a fwd drive car to hook up good at the track. Just heat them up with a decent burnout and you'll be able to cut consistent 1.9x 60fts
