What are the best drag radials I could put on my GP? Also what size drag radials can you get away with fitting on the stock comp g wheels?

there are a few dr you can go with, but you are going to have transmission issues if you havent upgraded anything. mickey thompson makes a dr that will probably fit your 17's not sure of size.
first person ive EVER heard say drag radials wont help........
umm sure you can keep some all seasons on it id take dr's allllll day and try get the best 60 foot possible!
Edit if your that concerned about the tiny tiny bit of weight difference go throw the spare tire out and jack, and back seat and passenger seat all of which can be tossed out in what like 10 min.....
Advice like that pisses me off...... Prepare for angry retaliation............ LOL

if you're not on the edge of traction for the first half of the run you don't need any better tires. summer tires work very well with the correct size until you get to that point.
if he's stock he can barely squeak the tires on a track so there's no point.
if you're stock and don't need the traction DRs will just decrease your trap time which is the true gauge of your cars speed.
if you're not stock and you need more traction then DRs will help you to be faster via pure traction instead of blowing your tires off.
Bio is right in this case. There is no need for Drag Radials if you have 0 traction problems. If you just squeak them on the line (on a track), its pointless. If you have traction issues on the track then yes get a set. Just note, one hard launch or 1-2 shift on a stock transmission is going to be a messy day for you.
lol you people are killing me. never squealed the tires in a stock car? hmm whats that sound? seems like loss of traction to me.....
heres the thing if the OPs car is stock i bet it wont be for long! haha
PREPARE for the event.......
the arguement is that he doesnt need them? i say he may not need them yet but will eventually.......
dr's are worth it imo!
They are worth it. I just needed some opinion on tire size and what you can get away with, not if it's gonna slow the car down. That's absurd. Of course it's gonna help if I'm spinning 3/4 of the way through 1st at the track. And I'm not worried about a radial hurting the transmission. If I got slicks then that would be a whole different story.
3.29's in a CompG will warrent more grip with the shorter final drive.
Been there, done that...especially with the finnicky throttle feel of the DBW setup vs. cable setups and being able to feather it much easier.
Leave it in D, don't fiddle with TAPShift.
A local had a GT (so not even with the aggressive gearing) and it had plenty of traction issues at KCIR. 2.2-2.4 60 foot times.
I would just try to drop the pressure a little in the street tires you have, drive around the water box, have TCS turned off, and go. It should crack off mid to lower 14's on a cold day with 2.0~ or so 60's.
I'd buy into the DR kick if you wanted some of the best times possible out of a stock car, but if you can learn to drive it/launch it correctly, there isn't any need. I ran into the 13's with a 3.5" and rockers with all-season 225/60/16's. Another guy had headers, a tune, and full on slicks...and he ran mid 13's. All about that launch, really.
Haha I just have a downpipe and tune. Gonna pulley the car when I can find somebody local that has a pulley puller tool.
And mainly my traction issues are because of the brand new tires I threw on the front for the colder weather, they have a ton of tread on them. I was gonna get another set of wheels to throw the drag radials on for when I go out to the track. I'd just like to mop up some of these 2 valve mustangs around hereand get the best passes I can get out of the car at the track.
