HI everybody, I found this forum using Google anytime I had questions about my 2004 Grand Prix GTP Comp Group. Right now, I HAVE to get tires by Friday and I need help. I live in Chicago and they have to be all season. I HATE noise and I HATE when I slip just trying to start from a stop. I also just had the rack and pinion replaced and am about to get quick struts but I need to drive all the way downstate on Friday and I really don't want to do it on these tires. I've looked at discounttire and Sears and am going between the Kumho Ecsta 4X KU22, Goodyear Weatherhandler FuelMax, Pirelli Cintuato P7 and I have heard some of you mention Bridgestone. They can't be summer only tires though. Less than $140 would be nice.

BTW--I LOVE this car and it took me 5 years to get it out from under my husband. Had it up to 106 on I355 running with a Porsche (I was just shadowing him-he'd killed me) before I chickened out (that was before the rack was replaced).

    Thanks!!

Perhaps look into some uniroyal tiger paws or even some firestone FR710's for a nice quality tire. Even the firestone precision tourings are decent or the brigdestone turanza but those might be too much money.

I work in the tire/auto business myself and see/install alot of these tires. I can't say much about the P7's as I can only recall putting maybe 2 sets on this year so far. I am not a fan of the goodyears and the kumho are okay but just don't seem to last tread wise. Stay away from falkens/fusions/primewells/maxxis if you had any thoughts on those, all cheap and won't do great in winter.

Thanks--what do you think about the BF Goodrich Advantage T/A? I have the old Traction T/A's now and like them other than the slip from a stop. I've been on the internet for hours now and getting frustrated. I have never heard of anybody I know using the Tiger Paws, you think they are OK?

Before my work was sold to it's new owner, we sold tiger paws as one of our main tires along side some firestone/bridgestone and yokohama tires.

They are good tires in my eyes, good tread life warranty and are made by Michelin. The TA's should be on par with the others I talked about, they'd do the job well. You shouldn't spin from stops with normal driving habits in the dry or wet, minor wheel spin with snow is always going to happen.

Another tire you could consider is the new Cooper CS5 touring tire, they are nice all seasons. I personally have the discontinued CS4's on my car and they were awesome in the snow and have great all around traction.

As far as the Weatherhandlers go, what about noise? I read lots of complaints and that's me pet peeve.

I also work in the tire/auto business..weatherhanders are very good tires...would recommend them over the bfgoodrich. Agree with FFDP!

Thanks-I'll check those out. I hate this when I have $ constraints. I have 3 cars that need tires and struts right now.

theyre pretty decent as far as noise goes. Never had anyone complain about them yet! If you want the quietest possible tire id go with the defenders or goodyear assurance comfortred Touring. But theyre a bit more than 140$

Yeah, I'm not that crazy about spending more than that. I can put up with some noise. It might just come down to who has what in stock. Thanks everyone, if you think of anything else, keep posting, I'll check again tomorrow.
