I also posted this in my Members ride thread, but I figured I would put it here too.
I have saved up enough money to purchase some 18x9 +30 Mustang Saleen rims. $699 shipped for all 4.
- I'll also be buying Achilles ATR Sport tire (245/45-18). Decent price, decent reviews. So love them, some hate them. Can be had for $350 for the 4.
But now I'm reconsidering. I originally wanted the Saleen rims in 19's. (19x8.5 +30) But the price difference is kinda ridiculous for an extra inch ($150 extra) . After doing some math, I can have the 18's and tires for roughly $1,050 BUT can have the 19's and Achilles 245/35-19 tires for about $1,250.
The 19 inch tire is only $50 extra than the 18" tire. Since I have all winter to save up, I'm debating whether to just keep saving for the 19's or stick with the 18's.
Need some advice, GPF Friends.
I just feel as if 18s won't be the exact size I want. Barely too small on my car.
The 17s just didnt cut it for me, at all. And only an inch bigger than that, seems like a minimal difference.
I've been looking at a few older threads on here and a couple pictures of Grand Prix's with Saleen wheels. Everyone in the pictures, have bought 18s with 245/45/18 tires and it looks greats. My only concern now though, is the offset.
I believe the only offset you can buy for Saleen rims is +30. Used to be able to purchase +36. After more and more research, +30 is really starting to push it for me. I'd like the wheels to be flush right along the fender. I don't want any Mexi-poke, because that's ugly.
I "plan" on buying 18x9 +30 offset from AmericanMuscle.com with a 245/45/18 tire. Just curious as too yours and others opinion on the +30 offset. If it sticks out too far, I'd have to start my search over with a different rim.
It will be lowered. Lol I have SSC springs in the garage right now. Just worried about a +30 offset having to much poke.
Awesome man!
Thanks for the link. Definitely looks great! Needs to be lowered though without a doubt.
Yeah you will be fine on the offset. I would stick with 18s anyway. That way you dont have to worry about damaging the wheels when you run over a bump in the road. I just hate having to keep an eye out for potholes it just ruins the whole experience of being able to drive the car. 18s are perfect anything larger and they just become a hassle to drive on. Not to mention the loss of handling and driveline power loss and extra strain you would put on all the components. Im giving my gtp to my sister and my grandfather is going to buy my fr500 wheels to go on his mustang so im done putting money into mine for now. Saving up to take delivery in a month or so of my new 2015 Ford Focus ST. You will enjoy whatever you choose to do im sure.
