Sorry if this has been beat to death....but considering a drop from a set of SSCs, would 235/50 or 225/50 be optimal for a 7.5 wide wheel?

    Wheels are 18x7.5, 42

Most tire calculators seem to suggest 235/50....anybody with.a 7.5 wide wheel or anybody obviously with more experience with tire specs care to chime in, would appreciate it...

I am also performance over visual when it comes to tires

^ This. The 245/45 is also a very common tire so you run a better chance of getting a bigger option for brands and a cheaper cost.

    I thought 245 on a 7.5 wide wheel was max/overkill....?

It might be a little fat on the rim, but it will go on without any problem. Unless you want that stretched look, a 245 on a 7.5"/8" wide wheel will fit perfect.

Mine are 18x8 +35, with 245/45/18 Goodyear Eagle RSAs. Stock height. Fit and ride perfect.

245 works on anything from 7.5"-9", though its starting to stretch a little on 9"

245/45/18 would be fine, although I wouldn't go any skinnier than a 7.5 on it. I run 235/45/18 on my 7.5" wide wheels. A 235/45/18 is also rated for a minimum width of 7.5 and I think it looks good so a 245/45/18 should as well.

    245/45s might rub with a 2" drop.

    I would go 245/40s

I highly doubt they will with his offset
I've got an offset of 25 and am basically lowered that much.

My wheels are the same offset/size and I cant fit 245/45s in the rear. That's why I run 245/40s all around.

I tired putting my 245/45s on from my Buick and they rub . At least for me.

With a 7.5" wide wheel and that offset I see the tire rubbing the fender liner from being so low way before the fender. Hell I even have 5/16" spacers on the rear so that's like a 7.5" wide wheel with a +17 offset

At times my rear wheels will sit almost flush with the rear fender. I do have a system in the trunk. It barley hit fenders with the 245s. Now the 18s on the buick are 18x8 with a 38mm offset. +42 is not going to make much of a difference.

There's no way it would rub the fender liner, it would rub the strut perch before it would rub any liner.

Mine sits that low too lol. I only rub fender if I take a corner really hard and it barely does then. But like I said I'm at an equivalent of a +17 offset. Which is WAY more poking out than a +42. I just don't see how you rub.
And a 38 to 42 offset is enough of a difference to matter when your talking about rubbing or not.
And no the fender liner it above the tire too and goes all the way over to the fender.... So if you were low enough you would rub that.
To the op, just do it lol
