Just like your paint, the polished torque stars have a clear coat.

If you let the oxidation get to the bottom of the clear coat there will be no bringing the shine back without stripping the clear coat.... The only way to find out is to keep applying a paint cleaner that cuts the paint down just as you would the body of the car. I would try Macguiars paint cleaner, or a clay bar to cut them. Lots of work, but for those of you that have let your wheels get to this point, think of all those times you could have waxed them and didn't.

a good wading polish will somewhat help in this situation, I always use WIZARDS, it cleaned the oxidation off alot of my aluminum parts on the show cars.

im in the same boat but prolly to the point of no return, when i got my car in november the guy who had it before me didnt take much care of the exterior, the clear coat to the rims he has on there peal off with each wash i give it, brake dust and road grime burnt into the rim....aside from prolly a media blasting, is there any other way to make them look decent? if not is it cheaper for me to just get another set of rims then to get the ones i have reparied?

Hey I just picked up a set of T-stars that need some TLC...slight rough surface and need to be cleaned up. I'm looking at using some "mothers" and "meguires" to try to bring them back. I'm curious to see if anybody that's posted has any before and after pictures of their wheels and what they did. If it comes to it I'll just have to strip off the clear coat, but If I can I'm trying to avoid doing anything too abrasive if I can.

A couple days late, but here are the pics of the oxidation. In some of the pics it looks like there is some green over-spray from a paint job. Looking forward to diving into revamping them in two weeks when I finish school!

I don't expect to get all of the corrosion on the inner surface- but hopefully on the face and outer surface.
