Hey Guys & Gals, I added my old GA rims to my 07 GP this week. (summer tires are brand-new and couldn't bare to get rid of them.) They are 225/50/16 's, replacing the original 215/70/17 's in my profile pic. Had to make some modifications to get them to fit past the Calipers (shaved inside Chrome lip).

Just wondering what you think ? I think they look pretty good. They handle nice too. Even lowered the car by 2".

The actual Tire size (from ground to center axle) is about 2" (maybe 1.5") less than the 17's

I was thinking about getting bigger wheels, but if you counter act and increase in rim size with a decrease in tire size wouldnt they offset?

The stock SE rims that came on your car look better, IMO.

First, there is no way you had 215/70/17's. Those tires are 2" taller than factory and would never fit.

Second, 225/50/16's are WAY too short. They are only 24.85" tall compared to 26.74" factory height.

You didn't lower the car, you only increased wheel gap.

yeah the stock 17" is 225-55-17 which is the same roll out size as 225-60-16

for the ones who dont know:
225 is tread width in mm
60 in what is know as the aspect ratio or basically % so 60% of 225 is 135 which your side wall height is in mm
and the obvious 16 is the rim size in inches

other tire info to keep in mind:
tire speed rating for our cars you will normally see S-V, S=112mph, V=149mph then there are Z rated tires W&Y W=168mph Y=186
load index how much each tire can handle in pounds starts at 71-110(car and light truck)

now higher speed rated tires not only tend to have a softer(stickier) tread compound that also have a stiffer side wall for better cornering
