Its what I know. I went from 225/55/16 to 245/45/17 which are equal in height and wheel gap remained the same. How is wheel gap supposed to change if the tire is the same height? The answer, it doesn't.

its a mind trick. technically it doesnt change, but it does LOOK like it increased.
im not saying you're wrong. i know all about wheel/tire heights/widths.
I know the gap is the same, but I went from stock GTP crosslaces, to my 18s and it DOES look like the gap increased, but it didn't... but the smaller tire height give the allusion that the gap increased. I will prolly lower 1-1.5"s sometime this summer just to close the gap.
It doesn't even look like wheel gap changed. In fact it looks better with larger wheels, because there is less sidewall.
