Ok winter is coming up and i wanted to know What the best snow tire is to use on the grand prix....

all seasons
It really comes down to weather or not you are good at driving a car.
Snow tires are just extra money people spend because they cant drive in snow.
Anyway, blizzaks if you got the money.
i second this. i work in the tire industry and the company i work for doesnt sell blizzaks, but they are one of, if not the BEST snow tire on the market in my opinion and many other tire techs will tell you that. the traction that they provide wether you are good at driving a car or not is phenominal. and the tredlife on them is actually pretty good given the fact that they are a snowtire.
I have ran blizzaks and will say they are awesome in the Snow and Ice. One downfall is the soft compound rubber that once above freezing temperatures they will wear allot faster. The second is cost they are real expensive compared to most other brands. I am running Firestone Winterforce this year due to there harder compound as well as the reviews. That and the fact I am have a buy 3 get one free deal from my tire shop.
I would go talk to your local tire shop and tell him what you want out of the tires and if you are going to run them thru fall and spring or not. Are you planning on swapping in the summer if not them find a real good all season.
I will be swapping tires and rims in the late spring myself.
This from a guy in Buffalo NY area.
snow tires are world beyond all seasons in the snow. i have never used a set of snow tires, but i am for sure 100% getting a set this year since i have two sets of wheels.
Firestone winterforce. I run them on the grand am. Cam I can drive just fine I just like the ability to bust drifts like a boss.
Having gone through nine Wisconsin winters in a GP I can tell you “winter” tires are not needed. I have literally pushed snow down the road with my car; GPs do very well in the snow.
That’s said pretty much any “new” all season tire will do just fine because tread depth is your friend in snow. And if you keep proper tire pressure (30-32 psi) and drive reasonably you will be golden. Coincidentally it is time for a new set of tires my self and after a lot of research the Michelin Harmony tires made my short list. However after speaking with my trusted mechanic he turned me onto a set of Jetzon Genesis tires. So I guess time will tell.
I can honestly say absolutly no to this. While yes, you can survive winter just fine on all seasons, there is nothing like driving through the winter with snow tires. All seasons are worthless after a few inches of snow, when I ran snow tires on my cobalt I could tank anything and more that any all wheel drive car could do in the snow with all seasons. If you have the money, snow tires are absolutely worth the money.
This is what I ran as well, they were fantastic.
Well I had brand new kuhmo ASX's and there are bomb ass all season tires. 1 foot of snow up here in MN is not un-common, I could glide through it with ease. And winter driving is easy for me at least.

any winter tire beats an all season in winter traction. if u got the dough, get hakkapelittans.
I don't want my wheels exposed to the salt of winter so they come off before the snow flies. Since I have a second set of wheels that I put on for winter and snow tires are far superior to all seasons in the snow, I use snows. I have found Bridgestone Blizzak and Nokian Hakkapeliitta to be excellent snow tires. If you want cheaper, several people I work with love the Firestone Winterforce.
Last winter was the first with the gp, and I just have some crappy all seasons.
I could get around just fine. Only time I got stuck was in a friends driveway that hadn't been shoveled.. Lol I opened the door and it shoved snow out of the way.
All you kc'ers remember in February when we had that white out blizzard.. I was out and about all day laughing at cars that were stuck.
So basically.. Learn how to drive in the snow![]()
Well my tires are bald both front and rear lol so i need new ones for winter to make sure i get to work.....but ok I'm going to look into it... i will probably try to find a more agressive all season tire.....lol Ive always drove trucks and suvs before so i never had a problem getting around but this is my first year in a car so i just needed a little insight...
I still have mine on my grand am but I have put on like 300 miles this summer
Cam drive with snow tires, and drive with out. Big difference.
I got some General Altimax's they seem to have a good snow rating. I'll let you know when it snows.
OMG! No way! Well I guess that makes two of us then
I gotta admit, if nothing else I personally think these tires look pretty BA.....just hope they perform as good as they look.
P.S. A good set of snow tires work wonders though. I've driven a truck with and without them and the difference is amazing (granted the non-snow tires were pretty much shot though lol)
