07 GXP Wheels?

I just bought a 2007 Pontiac GXP that has the 18" Alcoa Forged Wheels. My question is that my front ones are noticeably dull compared to the back ones. I was wondering if there is something I can use to shine them up or if I can/will have to send them to be re-plated or whatever the process may be? I am new to this, so if you can provide any info on this, I would appreciate it. I am providing some pictures for the comparison of the back and front wheels. Thanks!!

I would personally try a rubbing/cutting compound on the wheel first. Usually it is the clear coat on the wheel and that can be restored by buffing. You can also try wet sanding (ie. 1000-1500-2000 grit). Nothing to harsh cause you do not want to get down to the bare metal. Then buff after sanding. You can use the Meguires Power ball to buff inside areas a normal buffer would not reach. Then use the Meguires (hot rims) wheel polish. Best i have ever used. These solutions only work if you still have clear on the wheel. If not, you can only replate. Then it will make all the other wheels look dull.

its because of brake dust. clean them more often.

Is there a certain rubbing/cutting compound that you would recommend? I can certainly check out the Meguire products for the wheel polish! Thanks

The wheels were like this from day one when I got the car from the dealer and they had supposedly detailed the car. This is why I was asking, because I'm not sure if they appear to need a little bit of cleaning and/or they are requiring special treatment.

it's brake dust. brake dust is hot and it settles on the wheels and bakes its way in. you have to clean them more often and with better cleaners.

i personally like the 3M rubbing compound. Meguires also make a step 1 paint cleaner that will work. It is a little smoother than the 3M so will require a little more work. It is about 1/4 of the price though.

I am not sure about the brake dust. I do not clean my wheels that often and i have not have that problem. My GXP is an 06 with 42000 miles. I do use good cleaners though when i actually do clean them.

the wheels are clear coated. do not use anything that will scratch it up and make it more dull.

Thanks for the tips! Maybe I will try to pick some up this weekend and give it a try. I definitely want them to be as close to the rear ones as possible!
