What is the widest width tire you can put on stock 16" rims?

I've seen 235 done, but you can somewhat tell that its starting to balloon around the rim.

Stick with the 225 on the stock rim.

Thanks for the input. I am looking for some nice five star rims 17" but I read on this forum that the larger the wheel the rougher the ride gets. If I do get 17's, What size tire do you recommend?

235/55-17 is what GM and SLP used on the GTX wheels. You'r speedo will be a tad off bit not much.

If you can find them, 245/50-17's are almost exactly the same diameter as your factory ones. I'm on 245/45-17's because that size is easier to find and tends to be cheaper.

As far as quality is concerned, I lost more ride by lowering the car than by stepping up wheel size. It will be a bit firmer ride, but nothing to really complain about. Also, tires will make a difference. My 245/45's are noticeably harsher than the old 245/50's I used to have.

I, too, am thinking about 235 60 16. Will they look stupid on the factory "five star" rims? Any rubbing issues?
