I just bought new rims, and the directions ( ha i actually read them ) said that i should wax the rims to protect them in rough climates. What kind of wax should i use? is this what everyone else thinks i should do?

What are they made of?
If they're chrome, take them off and get some winter rims.

they are machined aluminum with and ICE coating which is basically a clear coat. Winter tires are not really an option.

Well they're not chrome, so no problem. Also, he didn't say winter tires, just wheels. Because chrome + winter = ugly pitting, aka ruining the rim.

ya but if i go with maguires carb. wax it will become sticky when it gets hot??

use whatever you want but caranuba will not hold up to the heat that your rims are exposed to when you are driving around for awhile....thats why the Wheel wax is synthetic based, it will hold up better

Why would you use carb wax?
Synthetic waxes last longer.

Use a heavy paste wax, such as turtle wax, or miracle wax, it leaves a pretty strong coating. I've got one coat of miracle wax on my GP after clay barring it and the paint feels as smooth as a brand new car 3 months after I applied it. I'm sure it would work well on wheels.

Use a synthetic wax.

I use DP Wheel Glaze. It's easy to use, lasts a long time, and makes brake dust come off a lot easier.

when ever you wax your car just wax it with what ever your using If you wax your car about every 2 weeks or so thats more than enough to protect them and keep them shiny. Thats a easy way to keep them clean and safe
