Posted this is the visual section as well but more to show them off. This is an actual question.

The stock tire sizes on a GXP with the Alcoa wheels are 255/45/18 in front and 225/45/18 in back. The wheels I just got are 255/45/18 all the way around. One of the service guys at the dealership is basically saying that I can't run the ones on the rear?

But I already have them on and they seem to be okay so far? No rubbing or anything, what is he talking about? Any ideas?

    And pics:

Rear wheel next to the Bilstein shock

    Pic of the rear tires

And a few other randoms showing how herrafrush I am

What do you guys think? Does my clearance look okay? Or any other guys with similar setup on a GXP or any 04+

ummm, look at the sidewall of the tire and make sure the directional arrow is pointing to the front of the car. I think you put the wheels on the wrong side because those tires look directional.....

no official idea on clearance though.

im going to say.... you might have the rear end suddenly kick out because tread width is supposed to be relative to weight distribution.... Never is though. But thats why you always see F body guys say "watch it in the rain...."

    Not a big concern though.

you can run those in the rear, thats not a big deal. its really about clearances, but it looks like they are okay. so long as you dont have a lot of rubbing problems then you should be money.

this is a thread about the clearance he has with them, not the actual wheels. no one is getting that besides a couple of us.

but couldn't it be discussed in the same thread instead of starting another just to show pictures?

Anyway, nice rims and nice stance. Looks good. And clearance to me looks just fine.

    Thanks erbody

And as Bio said, this is a thread about my clearance issues. The service guy is flat out saying, no I can't run them? I mean, I know he works for GM, but wtf is the problem?

Anyways, I'm almost positive I am going to be doing some fender rolling (with help from Nick) because I had my first rubbing issues today on a few turns and bumps today with a person in the back.

And about the camera, I know it sucks dick, I've been told lol.....

do this.. find a parking lot and turn your steering wheel as far as it go to your left side. put in reverse and if you hear a scratchy or rubbing sound from the front wheel more likely the tire is hitting on the inside wheel well plastic lining. i wouldn't freak out on that. find where the rubbing is and either cut out the plastic part where it is rubbing or i just leave that long cuz it's not gonna really hurt anything. used to do that on my monte now it doesn't cuz my tires have lot of miles on the treads.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the rear rims/tires.

Koniig - What's the offset on those? I run 18X8 alcoas (40mm offset) with 255/45/18 all around and have no issues.

if there not rubbing or touching in that pic, then there never going to touch the sturts.
No matter how much weight you have in the rear. But what you do have to worry about is the fenders.

Looks good man, but your cell phone pics look like crap.

Yeah talking about the rear tires.

And today, just to check out if there was damage, I ran my finger along the wheelwell and there is a small lip there. There are a few dents/bends in the lip. This is probably what it is right?

And is lowering out of the question? I'd love to run some SSC's

if youre rubbing the fenders now it will only be way worse if lowered. do that before you get too crazy.

Straight. It's pretty aggressively stanced as it is, so your right, I'm not gonna push it.
