I need to order some tires by the end of next week. Mine are still stock and they sidewalls are starting to split and they are starting to make all kinds of weird noises.
I've been reading that some of you compg guys are running 235/55/17 tires instead of the stock 225/45/17. What would the benefit be to doing this? More traction because the tire is a 10mm wider or because there is just a better selection of 235 tires than there are of 225? The tire size calculator in one of the other threads said my speedometer would be +.9mph faster; which I can live with. I'm liking the Continental ContiExtremeContact tires in 235/45/17 and I can pick them up at Tire Rack which is about 15 minutes from my house.
Any input would be appreciated.
