yes they fit, even if you left them staggered.

however, id suggest getting a set of all 18x8 wheels.

Why do you need different lug nuts when you put 18x8s on the rear end? Are the ones that are already on there too long and won't bottom out the threads?

Im buying a 2006 Grand Prix GXP in a couple of weeks and I'm buying aftermarket rims for it so I can rotate the tires, I'm also putting 18x7.5 on because if you look at the Monte's and Impalas with the 5.3L in them they don't run the 255/45s they run 225s. So I figure running 245/45s will be good on it.

But if someone can let me know why I need different lug nuts for wider rims in the back that would be great, i want to have all the parts in my possession when I pick up the car.

You only need the "longer" nuts all the way around for esthetics with the stock GXP 18x8 rims. The lug holes are very deep on the 18x8 so the top of the acorn nut would not be flush with the rim surface unless the long ones are used. I run 17x7 snows in the winter with the same size acorns all the way around no issue.

The 18x7.5 is a good compromise. The 18x8 in the rear can and do rub if you are carrying a heavy load. Not bad but it is possible and I have experienced it.

Pay close attention to how the transmission shifts on your new prospect, this is probably one of the biggest weak points on these W cars with the 5.3 V8. If it is shifting real hard or slipping going into gear, probably will go soon.

    Good Luck!!!

I've installed 8" on the rear of my 05 GXP, and I had the same experience as noted earlier. THere is not a problem with clearing the struts, but the sidewall will rub the fender well slightly with a heavy load. You need to bend the lip slightly as was noted. It's worth it given the wider stance. You need the longer (and expensive lugs) because of the width of the wheel. I don't beleive you would have a safe grip with the lugs otherwise. It seems to be getting harder to find good 8" wheels. I was lucky to get an excellent set from Detroit Wheels (not cheap though).

Interesting that VDV18 (Iowa) removed the Grand Prix lettering from the trunk lid. I did the same, but since you can make "GXP" from Grand Prix, I just moved the three letters to the right of the trunk, just in front of the V8 (GXP V8). It's not that I am not proud of it being a Grand Prix; just wanted it to be a little different.
