I have stock rims and in a couple weeks I am going to buy some new tires BUT I am not rich and soon it will be winter which means I wont be racing my whip around. So what are reasonable priced good overall tires? Thanks for the opinion it is appreciated

stock size, anything with a wear rating of 350 or above, and has a meaty tread that will handle snow.

Eagle GT's have massive sections of rubber on the outside, are a fairly hard compound, advertised primarily as a summer sporty tire despite being an "all season".

Just wouldnt recommend leaving 'em on your car in the winter.

    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...jsp?type=UHPAS

    The 5's confirm my suspicions.

I would never use a tire for winter that isn't siped. I use some unheard of brand called Snowtrakker. They're apparently owned by Goodyear. They have an aggressive tread pattern and worked great for me last year. I drove in all the biggest storms we had in Maine and never had an issue. For $55 each, they were a great deal.

Tires for winter aren't a big issue for a heavy FWD car like a GP. I don't doubt that the GT's work fine but IMO, if I were going to buy tires specifically for winter, I wouldn't buy ones that weren't designed for it. If we were talking about a RWD car like a Firebird or some lightweight civic, there's no way in hell I would run Eagle GT's on it during the winter. Then I imagine you probably would die.

I guess you guys dont like having fun in the snow.

Anything but a winter will be too hard for traction even when theres no snow on the ground.

Had this issue all last winter. My allegras are plenty for the summer but get too hard in the winter and then i have no traction.

And by "no" i mean much less than i want.

all season tires do fine in the snow with the right tread pattern. and if youre like me you like to slide so screw it. my car goes where i point it anyway.

So i take it that it never gets COLD where you guys live?

When it gets cold, the tires harden and then become pretty useless.
