Why does the DIC have a check tire press light if my car doesn't have band sensors or valve stem sensors? How would the car know if the tire pressure is low?

Revolutions of the tire I think. My 06 GXP does this, but I think the 07 and 08's have TPS.
the car uses the wheel speed sensors to determine if the tire pressures are different or if one has a drastic change in revolutions ( like a tire that is loosing air)
the Tire Pressure system works, as i have the same system on the Bonneville as the GP and it has alerted me of a tire loosing air (big screw thru the tread) before i felt anything was wrong or had the tire completely flat. I was able to make it to a safe place and put a tire plug in the tread
so if you buy aftermarket rims and tires that are different then the stock will the tpms become ineffective?
depends what car your talking about. If you have the Wheel speed sensor TPMS then it dosent matter, the Wheel Speed Sensors look at each other to determine tire pressure. The system still works If you have the Valve stem mounted Sensors then you need to get new sensors installed in the wheels
I wonder if the system works for other years? I know that the Tire pressure sensor in the DIC came only on the 97's. I wonder if the system is still there to get it to work somehow?
