Im looking for some new tires for my twankies and I was wondering if any has experienced with different sizes other than 245/35/20? I am looking for a little bit bigger sidewall because the potholes out here in Michigan are horrible. Theres a guy who has some 245/50s... would that set off TCS light or do any other harm? Not too familiar with tires so please help me out!

    could I go any bigger?

    255/35 rear
    245/35 front
I got a good deal on the 255s thats why I got em.

why did you put the big tires on the rear on a FWD car?

245/50/20 is way too big. you might get away with 245/40/20.

the 255/35/20's is not a good idea for the front because most likely you're rubbing because they're too wide and the 255s are even wider, but they should work on the back. that tire will be only a quarter inch bigger in diameter than the 245/35/20's you currently have on. Unfortunately there isnt really a good tire size to put on 20in rims for the front of our cars.

245/50 wont fit on the car. period.

235/40 would give you the best clearance (closest to stock wheel and tire combo), the sidewall would be bigger than the 245/35s, and it would be a little bit skinnier tire which might be an issue if your rims are really wide. if you cant fit the 235/40s then go with the 245/40s but they'll rub worse than the 245/35s so be careful.

depends on the offset of the wheel in question.

Thanks for the responses. I dont know the offset of the rims. I will have to check on that. What offset would be ideal? I can actually get the 255's cheaper than the 245's. How much difference will it make with the speedo?

for 20s with 8.5" wide wheel, youre going to want in the area of +35mm to +40mm.

you would never get a 35mm to clear a w-body.

mine are +40 and the fenders lips had to be rolled completely flat

a +45 would be the most logical.

also a 255/35/20 just clear the spring perch on the struts (height wise)

    this.

id agree that you need a higher offset because you need to tuck yours. however, im more risque and id use negative camber to my advantage instead of just running the 'right' offset.

my tires stick out like 1.9" more then stock.. i do have camer to compensate, at ride height i am at just -1 degree of camber though which is perfect/

and yes, i do have big enough brakes to fill for these rims
