I'm thinking about changing my front tires to a Drag Radial or even a "cheater slick". Basically i'm looking for something sticky yet DOT legal. Since my car ain't a DD anymore, I think a sticker tire would suit me well on the street and eventully the track. You guys got any brands you recommend?

I currently have 16X7 rims and the tires are 225/60/16... I want to keep that size for whatever I purchase. Just doing a little planning for the future.

    Thanks...

Street racing or Track Racing really is two different things. Some of the track tires don't grip the roughness of the road any better then a regular tire Cuz they are meant for that ultra smooth track surface. They are just softer an get used up super fast on rough roads.

In Drag Radials I would probably say
For the Street Drove on these for probably 10days or so... Wasnt safe on stock 6.5" wheels but it looked sick!
    Or
    For a track surface.

    Nitto's would be another popular street radial.Nitto Tires 180480 - Nitto NT 555 R Tires - summitracing.com <- Local Runs these
orNitto Tires 371070 - Nitto NT01 Tires - summitracing.com <- New to me, but looks like a more track friendly type of tread (but that can be misleading)

M/T drag radials. They are stickier than Nittos, but don't last as long. Having said that a friend of mine put 12000 KM(20000 Miles) on his including several highway trips. I have had mine on for 2 summers, and will probably have to replace them this summer some time. They hook well on the street, great at the track and they even handle decent. No bias ply "cheater slick" will give you decent handling. In fact my wife said she won't ever drive the car again if I put a bias ply tire back on. They are very unstable.

I had the Nitto 555s on my old GTP and they were nice. Definately not an endurance tire, but they wore fairly well and were great at the track. Sorry, only two tires other than my street tires I have experience with are the Nittos and MT ET Streets. Also, if you are staying 16s, I'd find a set of the 16 x 8s off a TGP. Nice looking car overall! Not a big fan of the wheels, but everything else is good.

I look forward to hear what you have to say about them.

Just curious, what slicks do you have? What size? What kinda 60fts do you cut? I have my torque stars laying around, I'd like to mount some slicks to them...

They were UR Losn's, but they are mine now
He can tell you what ones they are, as they are still in his garage
