How do you reset the tire pressure monitoring system on a 2006 Grand Prix? I had a flat, but I fixed it. Now I cant get the warning to go away. It pops back up every time I crank my car.

Go to the information menu by pressing the "i" button, when the tire pressure comes up, press the left arrow to reset it.

if the above procedure does not work then you will have to do the following:

    put key in ignition
    turn to run position
press lock and unlock on remote at same time
    car will chirp

now release air from each tire until car chirps
now take key out after all four tires are done
put air back in tires to recommended levels

    This ^^^

Also, when you finish up the last tire, the car will honk at you two times, to let you know it was successful.

If it's like the 00 Impalas, turn the Ignition key to on, then turn your park lights (park lights only) on and off 2 or 3 times, can't remember which. Then turn the key off. Remove it from ignition then key back in and start the car. It should reset it. May have to do it twice. Should work. I had a very slow leak in 1 tire on my Impala & had to do this many times til I got new tires.
    Lambokit to be built!!!!!

That's what I thought when I replaced all four tires/wheels and my computer told me all my tires needed air. I took my car to my friendly GM dealer and he said he'd be glad to "recalibrate" my computer for $50.00. I told him "No thanks", took it home and Googled resetting my tire pressures. I followed that procedure and had everything back in perfect working order in around five minutes and it cost me absolutely nothing!

You can bet whenever I need any future repairs done to my GP I will NOT be takin' it to that dealer! The really sad thing is I bought that car from their dealership! If that is GM's idea of how to keep customers coming back, they seriously need to rethink it!!!

And the really significant thing about my experience is that generally when you hear a story like this, there are probably ten more that people don't bother taking time to write about. The amazing thing is that a company who has had such massive resources in the past didn't bother spending a little money on simply having someone standing in the driveway area just observing what the hell was going on. It's the perfect example of what I've always called the "arrogance of size". Another term could be the "arrogance of success". In other words, once you get so big or so successful, you just start assuming you are doing everything right.

Resurrecting this from the dead. I have a similar scenario, but I'm not sure.

I have an '06 GXP, I run 18X8 alcoas with stock 255's all around in the summer and 18X7 alcoas withi stock 225's in the winter.

I recently put my 18X8's on and noticed my drivers side front getting lower. But my DIC never warned me, etc. Now when I go to the DIC and try to reset the TPS nothing happens. I hold it and it just goes back to my day/date screen.

I'm looking at the owners manual right now and in section 3-55 it says "Press the set/reset to reset the tire inflation monitor system. The message, TIRE INFLATION HAS BEEN SET, will appear on the screen if the Check Tire Pressure message, indicating an irregularity in the pressure of one of the tires, had previously appeared on the DIC. If the Check Tire Pressure message did not appear and the set/reset button is pressed, teh system will reset, but no acknowledgement message will appear on the screen".

So the way I'm reading this is this is that the system is truly resetting, but it's not saying it was because the DIC never told me there was a tire low.

But why didn't the DIC tell me (my tire was at like 18 lbs)? Somewhere in the manual it says that the DIC will only go off if one tire is more than 12 lbs lower.

I want to reset my DIC and have the computer tell me it's been reset, but I can't get it to. Am I missing something?

Just so I get this out there, I'm not real knowledgeable about working on cars. This may seem like a dumb question to some because it's your common knowledge. Unfortuntely, it's not for me.

    Any help is appreciated.
