Do you see a lot of snow and salt? If yes, then keep em off during the winter and run your stockers with some good tires on them. Save the new ones for when it's nice out. Plus you have less to risk if you slide into something and bend up or curb a rim. Just my .02.
Depends on what they are. For example, aluminum wheels don't rust.
If Oregon doesn't use salt, and uses gravel instead, there's a risk of taking a rock to the wheels. Or with snow in general, there's always that chance of sliding into a curb and messing up the lip.
You can get wheels coated in some special stuff that protects them in the winter. There is a local guy to me that does this for aftermarket rims for trucks and the stuff works okay I guess. The real test is after 2-3 years of the salt on them to see what really happens.
I wish I knew the name of the stuff but he uses a spray gun on the new wheels and then kind of like bakes it on I think to seal them. I know they sell off the shelf stuff you can apply by hand like sealcoats and waxes that will protect the surface during the winter months too.
Are you talking about ceramic coating? I think I'll keep em on for a month or so since the weather is decent rn then put em back in the spring
No, ceramic coating is for like exhaust parts and stuff like that.
This is a clear coating that goes over the painted finished or chrome finish on the wheels to add a layer of protection.
I always just used Mothers Mag Aluminium Polish for my chrome wheels. Trick is to just keep them clean.
Another option would be to plastidip them for the winter, and peel it off in the spring.
I hate plastidip though.
Or get a beater and not drive your GP.
