Hey guys i have a 99 topswapped gt. Currently i have the stock torque star rims on it with pretty much the cheapest tires available. If i punch it anywhere inbetween 0-30 i get mad tire spin. So my question is has anyone found really good sticky tires for the stock rims or would it be recommended to get wider rims and tires?

Good luck hooking with any street tires at those speeds.
The low end torque and pair that with 1st gear, you are just going to lay rubber every time.
Your best bet is to go with some high end tires to help some but then you won't want to be doing rolling burnouts because that's just making your wallet even lighter.
Some pilot sports, conti DWS, potenza's or something similar will grip good but cost more and even then they will still just go up in smoke with enough power.

its called throttle control. but crappy tires do break free easier. ive owned the good the bad and the ugly, they all spin. its your right foot that keeps from breaking free.

So you assume i know nothing about launching a vehichle because i ask what kind of tires people are running? The fact is it doesnt matter how good you can launch if your driving a 600hp car with 185 tires because your still not going anywhere *example*. My question is just simply what are better tires and i was curious of people running wider wheels to help with wheel spin. I wasnt asking why the wheels spin..

Some people run mustang wheels so they can get a wider tie, but then you are adding weight which puts more load on the transmission. I ran the big o euro tour for a long time, but it's not that great. I have Goodyear assurance triple tread on now and like them better. I would run a performance summer only tire, but even in the summer the temperature drops too low

Consider some "loose" (i.e. worn-out-ish) front struts, so the body lifts upward (letting the wheels stay downward). If you drive a lot on the street then this could be a bad idea.
Also, consider some stiff rear struts to prevent weight transfer to the rear wheels (i.e. more weight on the front).

For the stock 16 inch rims I run these summer tires. They are better then the all seasons I run in the winter but I still spin at anything below 30 and at any speed in the rain. With the amount of torque we have there isn't a tire that will grip. The Nitto 555R (P245/50R16) and Mickey Thompson Street S/S (P255/50R16) are several street legal drag tires I know of. I haven't run either.
