oh..and my tires now are riken raptors that are 7 years old and dried up to a fart..probably shouldnt be driving on them to be honest...
To me, too many large blocks of tread, not enough sipes in those blocks.
It should push water good with those channels but I prefer more sipes for icy/snow traction.
I don't drive it in the snow, I have a jeep I run around in in the winter most of the time....im loookin for something pretty good in summer mainly so maybe this is a decent choice?
Top rated tire on tire track is the 255 45 18

I have them on my Comp G, got a great deal on them from Sears end of last year. These things are fantastic in both the snow as well as dry roads. Really noticed how well they are after the strut brace install, car stays really flat and hugs the road. They were on sale, and with Sears has points and rebates were about 325 plus install fee.I cant comment on how they will last yet as I only have about 4k on them but I say go for it if the price is right.
yea walmart has them for 109+ 12 for mount and stems and lifetime balance. i saw a few reviews about a weak sidewall? are yours noisy? not that i really care, cant be worse than mine is now!
Not noisy at all.
I ran Generals many years ago, and they were noisy. Can't comment on current models.
The tires posted are a 3 season tire; not good for winter, just as any other all-season tire.
And just because some guy in Canada ran these tires, doesn't mean they are good in the snow. Any all-season can be used in the snow, as long as you don't plan on getting good traction.
Thru 2 good storms so far and I have yet to see my traction control light come on, I say they are good in snow. My GXP with the factory Bridgestones or Hankooks it would come on every storm. Different cars and certainly not apples to apples but none the less a noticeable improvement , these tires grip well.
The DWS are great tires no doubt but they will wear semi fast. I'd only expect 30-35k miles from them.
We had this customer at my last job that bought them for their 08-10 impala with the 18in LTZ rims, she ran them down to nothing in 30-35k miles and we ended up getting a warranty coverage from them and got another set on her car. That set made it through 35k miles before they were toast again. They are just a soft tire and if you scrub around the city streets, they do wear quicker.
That's not the traction I was referring to, expecting an all season tire to perform at the track seems a little unrealistic. On the street these should be fine for their intended purpose. Time will tell if they wear decent.
so after all this...appears i can get a great deal on the tiger paw gtz..by Uniroyal, which is a retagged Michelin im hearing..plus it has a better warranty too. so well see, nothing is set in stone yet....
